My wife was wanting to see this but it is just a gazebo on a mound of dirt in the middle of a field.

It's not much of an attraction but it is a pretty area and the story that goes with it is pretty interesting although quite sad (Romeo and Juliette type romance ending tragically)

As another traveler pointed out, a good place for a quick stop over. The land surrounding the mound is privately owned, so one can't really get close to the mound... maybe this is a good thing. Worth stopping by.

We were driving from Helen to Cleveland and decided to pull over and snap a picture just because it was so pretty. Reading the legend after the fact just made it that much better of an experience.

There was nothing there to really tell the story of the lovers and the mound had a gazebo on top of it that left me to wander the purpose. Someone who didn't know the story might confuse it with a picnic spot. Honestly it is a very pretty place, just not what I was expecting.

This mound is located right on the corner of RT.75 & Hwy 17 in Sautee, right before you enter into Nacoochee Village. It is most beautiful on a fog filled morning. To see the cows grazing is truly a treat. There is no entry to the mound itself and is private property, so I don't suggest running up to stand underneath the gazebo. There are little spots to park (hwy 17 side) to snap a quick picture and the historic Hardman Farm is right across the street, where you could park and get a good picture of the mound!

We saw this site in the fall so it was absolutely beautiful. It is a very simple site to see from the road...I didn't notice any real parking. We read the sign, took a picture, and moved along. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit this site but if you are driving by it's a nice place to stop.

The Indian Mound was surrounded by fall leaves in the mountains around and the mound looked hauntingly beautiful.

This Indian burial ground sits along one of the main roads near Helen GA. Nice view and a tremendous history. According to lore a man form one tribe and woman from another committed suicide there because they were not given permission to marry.

Cool story, but not exciting site! Read the story and if you pass take note, but don't drive our if the way to go. Look online

A near story and unique but don't drive out of your way to get here. You can not actually walk out to the mound but must view it from the road.

Just a quick stop for a self-professed history nerd, amidst the bemoaning sighs of the teenagers. We stopped to look on our way back to Helen from Clarksville. The mound can be seen from the road (no direct access to it, as it is in the middle of a privately owned pasture) and there is a small pullover spot next to the historical marker. Nice photo opportunity...again, bemoaned against by the teenagers.

Unless you read the story prior to seeing the site only then you will understand why it was there. Its just a mound. You really can't walk up to it just look at it and tell someone else the story.

This is not an attraction for a specific visit, but a quick stop on the way in (or out) with an informational plaque on the roadside. It's unique and not overdone (no commercial garb).

The history is very interesting. Not worth seeking out but it is at a main intersection near Helen so you will probably get a long look waiting in traffic.
