People were fishing and hiking. There were ducks and cormorants. We sat and soaked in the sun. Plenty of parking but we are in the off season. People in canoes and pontoons. Water was coooooold!!!!! Bathrooms were open.

We arrived in the morning and did a short hike around half the lake. The path was relatively level so it is a very easy hike overall, great for kids, families or those just looking for a comfortable hike. The lake allows boats with electric motors only. There is no swimming in this lake, it is a bit murky so you wouldn't want to swim in it anyhow. A fun way to spend a morning in prescott.

This hike can be done by people of all ages and capabilities. Half of the hike around the lake is paved and that part is fairly level. It is a beautiful mountain lake and my choice to take people over Watson and Goldwater Lakes. This hike could be added to a 1 day itinerary. Go and breathe in that delicious mountain air! Be sure to take your leashed pooch.

Fishing, hiking, and cooking out are all possibilities at this lake. The site map showed it to be on Cortez St, but that is not where it is. Search on Google or other GPS and find the real lake.

We usually camp around the 4th of July. Its always clean and quite. We have rented the boats before and just cruised around the lake and taken hikes that are easy and fun. Very family oriented and not far from town in case you need anything. We will be returning soon.

This is a terrific little lake for hiking. A trip around the lake takes about forty minutes and leads you to the Lynx Lake Restaurant where you can get great sandwiches and dine indoors or out. Very clean in and around the lake.

A really nice pleasant walk around the Lake, the near side being a paved path with several resting points and the far side a more natural woodland trail (not difficult, but depending on weather can be a bit muddy). Nice and tranquil and some lovely views. So different to the views just a few miles away with all the trees. Before or after the Lake suggest also do the Lynx Creek ruin hike. This is just off the road on the way back to Prescott (The 5USD Lake parking ticket covers you or go Wednesday for free). The just over half mile walk entrance is close to the board in the car park (took me a couple of minutes to find it!!). This is a nice gentle walk. Do not get too excited about the ruins, they are just a pile of stones, really have to use your imagination to consider life 800 plus years ago. But the walk is lovely, some great views (including the Lake) and pick up a leaflet at the start for descriptions of a dozen plants marked out on the walk.

Walked around the lake! Beautiful even on an overcast day! Plan on going back and taking a picnic. Don't miss this treasure!

Get out of town, get out of the desert. Easy hike around the lake, beautiful scenery. Just be careful, the trail has some slippery spots when wet

The lake is not far from town. There is a walking trail around the lake with some of it wheelchair accessible. There are many covered picnic areas and grills. The bathroom is outhouse like and no running water but clean and has toilet paper everytime I went in. You do pay to park but worth the few bucks. Fishing is usually only good right after they stock. Check the AZ game and fish web site for stocking schedule. Put down your phone and take a walk.

The lake and trails were beautiful as it was a very nice day. We walked to the visitor center, had a REALLY nice chat with the lady that volunteers there and view all the nice gift shop items. We learned a lot about Lynx Lake all the different trails and the many challenges they have to offer.

A great hike all around the lake and they have canoe rentals to enjoy the entire lake. My favorite time is after the Bald Eagles have nested and if you get lucky you can see them flying around for food. It's serene and peaceful.

The day after NewYears eight adults and five kids jumped in two vehicles and headed out to the Lynx Lake Recreation Area. We were up there visiting our grandkids during the Christmas and New Years holiday especially our oldest grandson's birthday on Dec.28. It was extra special since he turned thirteen and was embarking on 'teendom', yes getting up there.Anyway the majority decided to combine hiking and snowboarding so we got the gear ready and hit the road all padded up for the days action.Hiking around the lake in icy snow conditions presented somewhat of a challenge though it was one way to reach the slopes and have the cars meet us there. It took a lot of energy and grit to get there after a bit more than two hours, cold and hungry. Forty five minutes inside the vehicles with the heat on rejuvenated us. After sandwiches and hot chocolate/coffee we took turns at the nice facilities they offered and drove back to the top. Here we discovered a nice clearing with about a 100 yd. run at the end of a gentle slope that leveled off easy in a cluster of trees.Out came the inner tubes, saucers and snowboards for some great fun some tandem and others solo. We had a rope rigged up to a tree on each side so they hooked onto it and the rest of us pulled them up. That took four adults on each rope to haul each one up as the others scooted by on their birds or tubes. Everyone took a break after 3 pm and returned to the vehicles to thaw out.It was real pretty with a blanket of snow on a clear sunny day with all of us having a blast.Ordinarily we might have gone up to snowbowl near Flagstaff, but the lake area was a lot closer so we could spend the bulk of the time not driving to the fun.By the time we did the second run for a couple more hours it started to get colder. Others were arriving for a short spell so we called it a day and headed off to a local Denny's for a hot meal. Most of us had to shed a couple layers of waterproof jackets and a sweater before chewing down. The parking lot on the way out was a bit slushy so we dragged some of it into the vehicles but it topped off a really fun and tiresome day at LLRA. The kids couldn't get enough and ran around the fire pit in the backyard ready for giant s'mores when it got dark. All in all a very fulfilling time and everyone was unanimous on the four or more stars. A couple of kids inherited some bruises and bumps aside from rope burn while being pulled up. Aside from that and mild headaches, nothing untoward to report, thankfully.I recommend it if you plan it right and set some rules for the more daring in the group. The kids tried sandwiching on the boards holding hands. One on top sat up and the one between the boards lay flat on their belly or back while eating snow and not being able to see at all. Figure that out. All I could do was shake my head in disbelief. Happy New Year!

go early or late in the day for photo ops. One of the pretter lakes in the Arizona high country. But beware they want the day use fee from you, even if you are just taking photos!

Lynx Lake offers a beautiful setting with minimal driving from Prescott. We stopped and had breakfast in the restaurant by the lake that offered many German dishes. I loved the German pancakes with sided dish of peaches. You may eat your meal with a view of the lake and the servers treat you like family.
