There is a lot of exposition space and you will never feel closed in. It is conveniently located near several hotels in downtown Springfield.
I understand the place was remodeled recently and it sure shows. I've been in high end restaurants with bathrooms less attractive than the ones in this convention center. very friendly staff and ample affordable parking. a very nice space for a show.
We enjoyed the the convention center for this event. The complex is huge and you don't feel boxed in. We like the theater type seats and they are plentiful with several levels and sections to choose from. We were not assigned seats for this event and we were able to move for better video and pictures depending on the wrestling mat for that match. Food and snacks were good. Very well organized event.
It had been a very long time since I had attended a venue at PCCC. The set up for the concert was great. The staff was helpful to help us find our seats. Great facility and great concert!!
First time to attend a concert at the Praire Capital Convention Center. It is a small venue. Our original seats where behind a curtain. The staff seated us very close to the stage, which really made our night. Thought the downtown area of Springfield was very nice, all decorated for the season. The wife and I enjoyed the evening.
Nice location-they hosted the memorial sefvice here and it was quite nice
The title says it all. Go to Peoria for the real thing!
Over the years I have visited this facility twice to give professional talks, and have found it acceptable as a convention center. However, there is no other reason to visit it even if it appears on the Springfield list of things to see. You can buy food here, but you are better off visiting the fast food places in the area, and the architecture is best described as functional.
Attended a convention here. Parking was great, inexpensive and close. Food was ok. Not alot else going on if Congress is not in session
Parking and traffic is good, great seating. pick youe event and go. The Abraham Lincoln Presidential libary is across the street.
My wife and I recently attended a performance of Quidam, Cirque du Soleil at the Prairie Capital Covention Center in Springfield, IL. The show was incredible! Excellent for couples and even for older children -- perhaps a bit scary for younger children. The venue was very good -- comfortable with refreshments that were surprisingly not overpriced.
This place has an acrimonious history to it. Originally, some land developers tried to cram this box down the taxpayers throats and get them to pay for it. The issue was voted down soundly by the voters. So, the powers that be built it anyway, and the voters get to pay for it whether they like it or not. It's a large building, about 1 square city block, big enough to accommodate just about anything from a rock concert to a grand ball to a trade show. And, that's basically what it gets used for. Oh, was it a good business investment for the taxpayers? Of course not; that's why they voted against building it. But, they're still paying for it, and still making up the losses. A waste of taxpayer money in my book. But, a convenient place to hold your family reunion if you have 5,000 family members. Bring your checkbook.
World class acts are brought in to play. This is a great venue.
Saw a concert here and the venue wasn't too bad.
The conference I attended here lasted 4 days. The building was worn and dated. The chairs in the conference rooms were painful to sit in - they were padded metal folding chairs. The elevators' alarms kept going off and some people would get in the elevator, push buttons and the elevator would not go anywhere. They then would have to push the "open door" button to get out. The stairs here are steep and slick. Most conference rooms had room for scooters or wheelchairs, but not all of them. The stairs and exits were not very easy to find when there is a big crowd in the building. The concession stand food was good, but expensive. $3.00 for a small bottle of Pepsi. If you weren't in a conference session, there wasn't much space to sit and relax - only a very few wooden benches and the same padded folding chairs around a few tables in the exhibit hall. The exhibit hall (or arena) was very large for this event.
