Quiet afternoon spent sitting in the water, yes in the water. Peaceful oasis in a sea of people. No birds again, but a nice break from the traffic and hustle of Tampa St Pete's etc Our walking is limited, but question the possibility of seeing wildlife here.
This is a very beautiful place. You can walk on the little beach , walk through the walking paths or fish off the beach. We saw someone catch a little hammerhead shark!Great place to watch the sunset!
This preserve is a very nice place to visit. There are lots of trails to walk around and see plenty of wildlife. In addition, there is a road that you can drive down to a small beach area. Lots of history regarding the native population, settlers, and other interesting facts. The staff at the visitor center is very welcoming.
The preserve was so peaceful. I got the feeling of what it must have been like centuries ago. There were volunteers at the information center Sat and fri, to answer any questions. It was a nice hidden treasure tovisit and will be there again. Hope to see you there
I was part of an Audobon walk through the preserve. Since I have lived in Florida for a few years, I was familiar with many of the birds in the preserve. But I learned more about the ducks in the small lake. We walked along the harbor and observed some of the birds there. The park is well maintained and has many scheduled activities.
This park is a short drive from Sarasota. We enjoyed the beautiful view of the water and enjoyed exploring thru the jungle on paths. We will definitely visit again, and now that we know it is pet friendly, we will bring our dog along for a wonderful walk.
Emerson Point is a very nice place for an afternoon's walk. The trails are well marked and maintained; however, you do have to do a little stooping to get under some of the overhanging branches in some places. There are a number of wood/plastic plank side trails to water overlooks. There were a few people paddling their kayaks through the small tidal stream(?) that cuts through part of the property. At the end of the Point, there is a nice little beach that is only steps from the parking lot.
The history and beauty of this park is wonderful. I love fishing and kayaking here ; we've also held family gatherings here.
Water walk getaway along Tampa Bay.Take a moment to clear your had and get in touch with nature and the shore.
What a wonderful place to hike and enjoy nature! I loved all the great birds we saw here-spoonbills, wood stork, anhingas, egrets, herons and ducks. The trails are well designed and well kept up. The signage in the park is quite informative. I loved the quiet beauty of this gem.
In and around the Bradenton/Palmetto area is another wonderful preserve that allows you to get back to nature and get a feel for how things were for native Americans centuries ago. There are well laid out trails (watch out for protruding tree roots) that take you round the preserve giving you the chance to see lots of birds. There are picnic facilities as well as a visitor center and restrooms. Great views across the wasters. This is another of those unpublicized gems that make this area of Florida so special.
We went for a hike last Sunday at Emerson Point Preserve. Great place to visit. This is really a chance to see old Florida. Lots of birds to watch. Saw two very bright Cardinals. Good hiking trails and also lots of historic markers that explain the early Amerindians who lived and thrived in this area. They created great middens, shell dumps, from the oysters, clams and fish bones. Some middens were as high as 14 feet. There is a visitor center where one cam learn more history. Palmetto is just across a bridge from Bradenton. Also in Plametto is a great restaurant - Riverhouse - happy hour 4-6 and great water views.
A nice place for a quite walk or bike ride while enjoying FL's natural beauty and wildlife. The park is well maintained and easy to get around even with small children.
One of the best things is that it doesn't cost anything to go there. We take a picnic and walk the trails and sit and watch the great views over the water.
Nothing out of the ordinary except that it is a good place for going for a walk. You may or may not see wildlife. Every walk will be different. The more time you spend here the more you will experience nature at its best.
