Every dusk is a must to see the sunsets at Pine Island. It is a beautiful place just a few miles from Spring Hill Florida. Swimming and sunbathing all year.
Beautiful small county park in an uncrowded area. Clean restrooms, food stand and children's play area. Clean and maintained.
Great beach, always crowded parking on the weekends. Clean beach with many tables available. Closes at dusk. Parking permit machine available.
This is Hernando Count's only beach. It is a beautiful, well kept park, featuring a great playground and beach volleyball area. The water is shallow, making it perfect for families with small children. Willies Tropical Cafe is also located there, providing great beach food and non alcoholic beverages.
Small out of the way beach and park with nice beach. Too cold today to test the water but talked to some of the locals about best times to come. I would return ona sunny warmer day.
This beach is the perfect place to relax, enjoy the serenity, the dolphins jumping, clear water & lots of fish swimming around you. No waves! perfect for non swimmers & kids. Nearby is Willy's grill. Great for lunch & snacks. Restrooms are very clean.
Manmade beach in need of maintenance, needs more sand. Feels like laying on concrete, I think since the county charges 5 dollars to park they need a better job at maintaining it..
We were super excited to find Pine Island , It's not like the beaches we are custom to but did enjoy the sunset and atmosphere at the beach .
If you're looking for big waves this is not your place. The still water is perfect for little ones, and the playground is lots of fun. We always bring our kayaks for fun padding through the marshes, sometimes seeing dolphins and manatees. Restrooms are clean and outdoor showers are available. Get here early as parking is limited as are the covered shelters. Stay to enjoy the spectacular sunsets! Great family park!
As this location is only a short distance from my brothers house it's visited quite often. We find it more than suits our needs, as it's a very family oriented place. Being small means less people and hassell larger beaches can be. We love it here.
I have gone to this beach for over 40 years. It has changed a lot & always for the better. Yes there is a concession stand now. The bathrooms are pretty clean for a beach bathroom. Parking lot small but so is the beach area. There is an observation platform. That beats walking out on the coral jetty as in days of old. It's shallow & great for putting your chair in the water & not having waves wash you over. The sand burs of old are not a problem anymore. I agree that the residents should not have to pay to park. I also own a home in Spring Hill & pay taxes but not a full time resident. I wish i could take my dog there but those are the rules. Overall a fun place with assorted activities on weekends. Was there 1st weekend of 2015 & there were drum players & belly dancers & other dancers. it was fun.
A small beach with shallow water for approximately one mile out. The shallow water, zero waves, and no current makes it a great beach for small children. Delicious steamed shrimp at Willy's concession stand. No signs for kayak & paddle board rentals;however, plenty of people were enjoying these sports. $2.00 parking; spaces are limited. Picnic pavilion with picnic tables and grills.
The beach at pine island is small but clean, with a place to buy food and drink. As a full time resident of Hernando county my only complaint is the new "parking fee" on top of the taxes I ALREADY pay that help maintain the park. I really resent the fact that what little beach we have there is usually so crowded with visitors to our area that a local can't even access a park that is supported in part by our taxes! The parking / use fee is offensive and a poorly thought out hidden tax on its users. If there were another beach in the area I wouldn't even think about this place!
My husband's brother lives nearby, and we inquired about the beach, when we found that dogs are only allowed one day a month. We looked up this beach on youtube, and it was just a back-bay beach (see it on youtube for yourself) like many of the beaches near our house, all of which allow dogs. That policy should change.
I love this beach. Never over crowded, very peaceful, nice concession stand.Love to go there and watch the sunsets!!Just make sure it's high tide when you go.
