My husband and I had been to a Unity church in Orlando so we kind of knew what to expect. But this service was far better than we expected. The church itself is lovely. Rev. Dan was eloquent, yet humorous in his sermon. We were actually serenaded by an excellent singer named Glen. The congregation was, all in all, a mixture of all ages. There were only a few children that went to the Sunday School. There was much singing by the congregation...joyful, happy singing as we felt very comfortable to be there with these strangers, who for some strange reason, felt like family to me. Everyone was friendly and smiling. This is a place where people rejoice in being one with God and that we are all connected to each other and to God. It actually felt like it there in that church. The day we attended, there was a bake sale in the lobby and I bought some wonderful strawberry jam. They were also having a lunch served after the service. It was $8 each and you got an organic lettuce salad (grown and donated locally), a choice of 7 different homemade soups and organic (grown and donated locally) strawberries to make a strawberry shortcake. We all sat at large round tables and had lunch and chatted and one of the new guests was a musician and she sat with a guitar and entertained us with folk songs as we ate. I can't wait to go back next Sunday, though I know the bake sale and luncheon will not be served. They have a full calendar of events and classes available.
Friendly and welcoming. Great reception for newcomers with free dvd. Beautiful facility with butterfly garden and Labyrinth, peaceful chapel for meditation and prayer.
Having tried various churches and religions, I have finally found a home at Unity. Rev. Dan Holloway is an excellent speaker. All his sermons are thought-provoking and connect you with Source. Our time of meditation with Rev. Kathy is so relaxing and inspirational. We are all connected. I highly recommend this spiritual center to everyone.
High quality and subjects vary. Often programs are 'free.' I do think they could do a better job promoting some of the free presentations to people who may not get the local paper or are on the Internet. Something that would target seasonal renters and travellers.
