I gave the overnight dog sled adventure trip to my husband and we just got back. Nature complied with a snowy but not overly cold night. Everything was wonderful, from the ability to interact with the dogs, to the education, the company, the attention and Keith's famous barbecue chicken! Thanks so much
This was an awesome experience. Laurie and Keith and Kate were outstanding, fun, and got us involved with the dogs. A true Vermont experience and very happy to support this great family business. The dogs were wildy entertaining and so cute. We loved being able to ride with the mushers standing up rather than sitting down and help steer the sleds. Laurie took pictures for us and sent them to us immediately. It was great, no frills, all Vermont, and an exciting fun experience.
My wife and I enjoyed a fun snow-shoe hike to the hidden waterfalls, personally guided by the super-outdoorsman Keith. But the bonus was getting to play with some 6-week old husky puppies at their home after the trip, while learning about dog sledding.
This is what it's all about here at Montgomery Adventures, giving personal attention to our customer's and giving them the Adventure they are looking for, We are so happy you had a great time, and hope to see you again in our neck of the woods, off the beaten path.
My husband and I traveled from TX to VT for a vacation. Feb 2014. We went out with Keith and Austin, 12 dogs and camping gear. The temperatures were from 0 to 19. Keith is a GREAT outdoorsman and host. He really knows how to show you a good time, keep you safe, comfortable and well fed. Best Vacation ever!
My family had an absolute blast dogsledding. My son, 4, spent the entire time either laughing or singing jingle bells at the top of his lungs. Keith was fun to talk to and made sure we had a thorough experience. We felt safe the whole time and Keith even agreed to take my younger daughter, 2, on an abbreviated tour that was more toned down. The ride was so smooth and quiet and we were able to take in the beautiful scenery and the dogs. Keith has a special connection with the dogs and is an expert at what he does. The sleds that we used Keith actually built by hand. I would recommend the dodsledding adventure to anyone with young children, but it was so fun that I would do it if I didn't have any kids. I went skiing on the same trip up to Vermont and I have to say the dogsledding was definitely the highlight of the trip.
This was a holiday gift for our whole family, and we all agreed that it should be next year, too! It was hours filled with screams from our daughters of "Best day EVER!" and "AWESOME!"The 'musher instructors' were patient and knowledgeable, and even the kids got to stand up and experience what it was like to be a professional musher. This is an adventure NOT TO BE MISSED! The thrill of flying along snowy, back-mountain trails behind a team of professional sled dogs (who were deafening in their cacophony of excitement until they were actually allowed to pull) is exhilaration that defies description. Just get out there- you'll see what we mean! :-)
We were picked up at our b&b and brought to there home where our adventure began. We met the dogs and helped harness them up.We received instructions and safety was reviewed. We got on the sleds and went out on some great trails into the woods of Montgomery. We returned and the owner took some photos and printed them out for us.We met a great group of people and a fun day doing something we never expected! We were given a ride back to our place.
We have now visited Montgomery Adventures twice.....once in the summer to do Canoeing (long story, but needless to say Keith and Lori invited us back this winter to make up the issue we had during our canoeing ride to try the dog sleding adventure). I can't say enough about how great of an operation that Lori and Keith run. From the email communication before you get to Montgomery to the intstruction while you are there, the experience that you encounter is second to none. The dog sledding is unbelievable. Their company was featured in Southwest Airline's "Spirit" Magazine in November and there is a reason why! This is the cream of the crop operation in the Northeast! The scenery is incredible. Keith and Austin take you through trails that only they occupy. You truly appreciate nature on this tour but get an adrenaline rush from the huskies that love being with you on this >1 hour ride. Our family of 4 on 2 sleds absolutely loved this morning ride and we will surely be back. Keith and Lori....thanks again for a memorable morning! Can't say enough about our experience.
This was our first experience on a dogsled, and it was simply incredible. I love dogs and the dog teams were so much fun to meet and get to know, even if briefly. I knew dogsled teams were energetic, but WOW were they ever. So much noise and activity to get onto the trail, but once they start their run, they all get quiet and things get serious. Keith and Ozzy were great drivers and Lori was great to meet while the teams were getting ready. Excellent!
We came to celebrate out daughter's birthday party. Laurie and Keith's hospitality was evident the moment we stepped out of the car. We were invited to their home, where we could gear up, as it was one of the coldest days of the winter, it took a while, and they were helpful, patient and provided hot chocolate. The party started with a snowshoe hike in the woods near the house, which Laurie led with a lot of enthusiasm. They have snowshoes for all ages, ranging from toddlers to adults. After a short rest and warm up in their home we went to the dog kennel, where Austin and Saidi hooked up 4 dogs and took us around for fabulous short rides. We ended the day with hotdogs and marshmallows cooked on a bonfire. We highly recommend this activity for anyone wishing to celebrate their children's birthday in a unique way ! This would be a wonderful visit even with no reason for celebration !
More adventurous than we thought. Beautiful ride through the woods on a cold day. Laurie, Keith, and Austin gave us everything we needed to keep us warm on a very cold day.
We did a hike and a canoe trip with Keith! He was extremely knowledgeable of the area and shared some great stories with us during the hike and canoe trip. Lunch was provided on the canoe trip, and it was delicious!!! Keith makes his own BBQ sauce! It was fantastic! In addition to the fantastic experience we had, we received a picture to display at home of our hike. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone who loves the outdoors. We have already planned our trip for next year.
Trip Date: Sept 11, Weather: 80's Sunny River: Missisquoi Level: lowEvery aspect of this outfit is great, from reservations/booking until we were shuttled to our car upriver. New to the area but not to paddle sports I wanted to get on a river before the weather got to cold. We could not have picked a better day, although the river level was low it was still comfortable to navigate.Keith and Lori run a tight operation. I booked our trip for 2 over the phone and chose the Bar-B-Q chicken lunch with potato salad and apple strudel. Lori gave us easy directions to the launch ramp and they showed up earlier than planned too. We were on the river by 10:00am sharp. On the river, Keith made sure we were comfortable with our equipment and knew what we were doing before we ventured further. As we paddled and drifted he explained to us the local plants and tress and even some invasive ones. Except for the resident birds the wildlife was rather quiet that day and Keith showing his local knowledge had a reason for that. We had a great day on the river. The Bar-B-Q lunch stop was a great hook-up, I recommend it. Nice down time before the last push to the take out. we packed a cooler of soft drinks to have in our boat and a beer for lunch, but remember, take out what you bring in! Without Montgomery Adventures I don't know if I would have tried this trip alone, and now that we used them once they will be our go to outdoor guides in the future.
We had a great time canoeing on the Missisquoi with Keith. He was friendly, knowledgable, and worked with our experience level to give us a good day. We highly recommend a trip to anyone, and it was very relaxing. Definitely go for the added option of a campfire meal with homemade BBQ sauce (and some homegrown cucumbers as an added bonus for us!) it was delicious.
