Dear Penny,I’m so glad that you came and saw not only the summer view which is amazing but when you see the potential after mother nature has painted everything a sparkling diamond white, two opposite seasons but no matter the season, an amazing view!! I look forward to you coming back and have that glass of wine with some cheese and crackers on one of the outdoor patios! Hopefully soon!

I was very happy to read that you enjoyed yourself while here. I too crave those Lake Erie perch sandwiches and can’t wait to sit outside with one once the lake melts and the fisherman get back out there and we have fresh perch again. Have you tried the Italian Sausage sandwich since we don’t have Lake Erie perch available at this time of year? We make our own Italian sausage and Kielbasa ourselves right here with the freshest ingredients and I’m sure that you will find either of them delicious! And when you come and try a new sandwich, you’ll have to try a new wine to see which one is your favorite with it! Now you’ll have a favorite summer lunch and a winter one! See you soon!

I am truly shocked when I read your review….I am almost speechless. I was the lady from the Inn that spoke to you ladies when you were standing at the door. I asked if you were here for dinner because the hostess had stepped away from the hostess stand and when you said that you were here for a wine tasting I explained that wine tastings ended at 5 and then the hostess come back and when you said that you were interested in wine she said that if you were looking to purchase a bottle, the bartender would be happy to give you a taste before purchasing it. She also said that the bar was full at the moment, but people sitting there were almost done and she would be able to seat you shortly. I asked what kind of wine you liked, you both replied sweet and I said that you should try the apple wine as it was just like biting into a real apple and I thought that it was a pleasant conversation. I know that I looked at the bar to see how many people were there and there was one seat open at the south end and one open further down on the north end and the rest was full. I’m sure that while you were waiting that you didn’t sit there and count how many people left but when the group of four got up and left that would make the bar appear that it had been empty for a while – which it was not. They left and then the glasses and plates were removed and the area cleaned and then they came to find you and seat you. The bartender walking away to speak to employees was because she was filling their drink orders that had backed up and had questions – it certainly wasn’t to ignore you ladies. We have always enjoyed the diversity of our staff and our guests that come from all over the world. I also checked with the Front of the House manager who said that she had even spoke to you as you were leaving and offered some suggestions of other wineries to try in the area that served sweet wines as you thought that some of our wines were too dry. I am 100% certain that everyone that you came in contact with treated you cordially and politely as we would any guest and cannot fathom how in any way that you perceived something that was definitely NOT occurring. I know that the world is not always fair and past experiences may leave you feeling vulnerable to feel slighted, but I hope that my explanation of what occurred that evening will relieve you to know that we welcome everyone through our doors and do NOT discriminate on any basis.

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Amidon,I was so happy to read your recent review as we too were disappointed when the storm hit and discovered that your trip to the wineries that you had booked with the State Park’s Lodge had been cancelled. We know that when our guests come to stay at the Inn the expectation is more than just a good night’s sleep and a nice breakfast – it is the whole experience of being away. The location, the people you meet and the stories that go home with you are what we all love to share with family and friends and we know that is important.When we saw that the wine tour was cancelled, our wine maker suggested right away that we help give you an experience right here. So we love that you got to sample and learn about our wines, discover the uniqueness and passion of our chef for local and sustainable foods, share a lunch with our guests from all areas of the country and then head out to some of the wineries that we found were open that day. Your kind words tell me that you indeed enjoyed yourselves and that means so much to all of us. I will definitely share this with everyone! Thank you and I look forward to seeing you again soon too.

I hope you had fun on the Tannenbaum Trail and filled your tree with ornaments and sated your palate with good food and wine! I think it is a wonderful that another of our warm weather guests have come and experienced how nice a cold weather visit can be! Dear Ginger,Thank you for taking the time to let us know that you enjoyed yourself and I was also very happy to hear that you enjoyed the wine and food too. I’m not sure which ad made it look like more land here as we have just about two acres. As a city kid it always seems like a lot to me – especially when I need to get from one end to the other! I hope that you enjoyed the lake front patios as they are my favorite spot to sit and watch the boats go by and listen to the waves. Please come back again soon to enjoy another glass of great wine, some good food and soak up the last of the summer sun on one of the patios!

Dear Pat,I am so sorry to hear that your visit to us this time was not as nice as your previous visits. I want you to know that we have looked into this and advised not only your waiter but all of the servers on the decks below to realize that they can split checks if a guest asks and to what the correct gratuity amount should be on larger parties. You were correct that the wrong gratuity was attached ($11.30 on the one ticket and $18.80 on the other) and so we are rectifying that as well and you should see that shortly.. I know that if you have been here before, you know that this is not how we do things and my sincere apologies for the mistake on that server’s part. I know that we have changed some things that we do on the decks so that people will enjoy their experience and be safe this year. The party size definitely started us off on the wrong foot, and I apologize. Size of the decks have been the reason why we purchased the tables that we did and that is why they are tables for 2 and tables for 4. And the reason the tables can’t be moved is that the umbrellas in them are extremely heavy so they can withstand the winds from the lake but if they are moved incorrectly, they can snap and even though losing an umbrella is very costly to us, the safety of anyone around it, if it would happen, is more important. We have never offered anything other than beer and wine on the lower decks as we have a small bar that can only hold so much and would be difficult to stock all the liquors and mixes needed for cocktails, but they are served upstairs in the Crosswinds Grille starting at 5:00 p.m.. As to water, we don’t have a good source for drinking water on the lower decks and I know someone suggested picnic jugs, but keeping those sanitized and bug free down near the lake just wasn’t something that all of our people that went to Serve Safe would approve. That is why we cart bottled water down below and only charge a nominal fee of a $1.00 in case anyone wants water. Again my apologies that your visit with us was not stellar as we always hope everyone’s visit is. And I sincerely hope that you will make another trip out to Geneva On The Lake and come and visit us again and have you leaving pleased again with the great service we typically offer all of our guests.
