My friends in Malta told us about this bridge and said it's the only one of its kind. Very cool and worth a short side trip to experience it!
Would not travel a great distance to see but if in the area check it out. It is especially picturesque at night during a snowfall, but if it is the unusual structure it's self you want to see go there in the daytime and best in warm weather to get the most enjoyment.
I lived there for 19 years. Back in the "old days, Route 40 crossed the bridge and it was notorious for traffic jams. Now. one bypasses it on I70. IT is where the Licking River flows into the Muskingum. There used to be a nearby mill & the canal still runs under it.
The best view (when there is no fog) is from a park high up on the rivers edge, called Putnam View Park, off Grandview Ave.
We were in the area so went to see the Y bridge. It's supposed to be the only one in the United States. It was interesting and we were glad we got to see it. I wouldn't go out of the way, but if you are in the area, it's worth seeing.
You can tell your friends to go halfway across the bridge and turn left :)this bridge is very unusual, possibly the only one of it's kind. Worth a trip to see.
Had a fun trip over the Y bridge. Stopped at a pullout to the right for a closer look. I don't normally like bridges, but this one didn't make me nervous at all!
If your in the area I think this would be well worth the visit! Head up to Putnam hill park if your here during the day and view it from above.
This is unusual and don't think I have ever saw one or been able to drive on. We were also able to go up to a park where there was a great view from the area
From an engineering standpoint, the Y Bridge has historical significance. From a tourist standpoint, it can be interesting. It certainly looks unique as you approach it, and you'll probably want to drive both halves of the "Y". I couldn't find a spot on the bridge to photograph the split. We were told there was a good vantage point at the nearby park, but there were a few untrustworthy-looking fellows there, so my wife and I drove on.If you are in the general area, it's worth a view. However, I would not recommend making a major change in your travel route to see it.
driving through & checked out the TripAdvisor app & saw this was something that was just off the interstate but on the way home. We took acouple of minutes to check it out. It was neat to see. If you are around Zanesville check this out- a little breather is always nice on a road trip.
Head up to Putnam Park where there is a little overview to see the Y Bridge. It's certainly unique. Definitely consider going to the park before the sun sets, and it gets dark.
The bridge is interesting as stated, but don't drive more than 10-15 min out of your way to see it. Be sure to stay in the proper lane when turning......good thing there was no oncoming traffic. Ha.
My dad grew up in Zanesville and he always talked about the Y Bridge. Enjoyed seeing the unique bridge.
I believe that there are only three Y-shaped bridges in the world. I've visited the bridge a number of times. There's a lot of history about it, and there's a great viewing area at Putnam Hill Park. It's an icon of Zanesville.
