It's a little bit of a "stretch" to call this a *historical* park and for us it was slightly disappointing. Really the only thing historical about it is the location. Nothing remains of the fort's buildings and we could see no evidence there ever was a fort here, although there are some informational signs. Across the valley, down at the bottom of the hill, we could see an empty house. The house was not restored and nothing at the top told us what it is or was. There is a paved footpath going down to the lower part, but we opted not to take the time to walk. There is an old apple orchard which is probably 150 years old. The trees are still producing apples! There is lots of nice grass, picnic tables and a large covered group gathering area with BBQ's tables and sinks. There are restrooms but they were all locked when we were there. The paved road up to the park is a bit steep, but short. There is a separate RV parking lot, then a car-only parking lot a little further up the hill. This park would be a pleasant place for a picnic in the warmer months of the year. We visited on a damp, cloudy November day and the breeze was pretty chilly.
