What and unexpected find!! Lost of area history kept here. Excellent photos and displays, along with a great collection of vehicles and farm machinery.Lost of great photos of the Newlands project and Lahontan Dam.

I grew up in Fallon so it was especially interesting for me to visit the museum and learn more about the history of it since I'd not been back in many years.

This is a must museum to visit if you are interested in the history of Nevada. Also, a great book selection on the history of Nevada.

I had the opportunity to stop and visit this museum while on road trip to retrace the journey of my husband's grandfather who worked as a sheep herder in Fallon, Nevada around 1907. A visit to this museum was an excellent way to find out about the history and people of Churchill County.The exhibits are well planned, educational, and representative of the people who settled in this area of Nevada. The staff was extremely welcoming and helpful. One staff member provided a folder from the museum archive about the Williams family. My husband's grandfather had worked on their ranch during his time in Fallon. There are no admission fees to visit the museum. There is a wall of informational pamphlets regarding historical sites in the state of Nevada. This is a must see stop if you are interested in the people who settled in Churchill County over one hundred years ago.

The best, and for me probably only, reason to visit Fallon, Nevada is this great local museum. Helpful staff, interesting displays, a lot of work and care has gone into this museum. A time capsule from the past, with lots of little room tableaus from different periods. As adults we loved it, I suspect kids would like it too. Separate building with old vehicles and more good displays. The best was a music box with big metal discs, you could actually operate it yourself to get an appreciation for how folks listened to music over 100 years ago. A don't miss if you are anywhere near here!

Very interesting. A lot of history here. Something for everyone. If you like history this museum has a lot of it.

So this is mostly an anthropological museum with a few rocks etc. There are displays of rooms and life in the area. Some old glass work. I was kind of impressed by the old bank safes. It's very well maintained and put together. There wasn't necessarily and over arching narrative. It was okay and I'm sure and impressive effort for such a small town, but don't expect the same level as something in a big city.

We usually try to hit any small-town museums we come across. To be honest, most of the time you do leave a little disappointed, which isn't the fault of the museum. It's just hard for some to have enough items to interest everyone, especially a tourist. But this one was really a surprise. It is very thorough with super-clean displays that managed to hold the interest of a 10-year-old. The people behind this should be very proud of themselves. It's a real winner.Besides the history of the area, and a huge mineral display, we even learned about the evolution of bikes from the "bonecrusher," to the "ordinary" to the "safety bike" (which is pretty much what we have today). And that was just one small display. The second building also has some well-restored vehicles and the history of Churchill County's phone lines. For kids raised on cells, reading about true party lines will probably blow their minds.The gift shop is small, but has some unique items at really good prices. Couple that with a friendly staff and this is a pleasant stop if in Fallon.

Check this place out when in town. Its great! They even have all the annuals for the local high school.

We stopped by 'cause that's where the tour for Hidden Cave started. I wish I had allowed more than 30 minutes to walk around! The displays are all nicely done and really surprising considering that many folks don't associate this part of Nevada with a lot of history. I was particularly impressed with the Native American displays and the parts of Americana using actual items (the vintage bank safes were a hoot!). The staff went out of their way to be sure we got our questions answered. Admission is free. Bottom Line: Make time for at least an hour or two to learn more about this part of Nevada.
