Falcon Ridge is a very challenging course, with lush fairways but choppy greens, there are several dogleg holes with blind shots so knowing the course can be a big advantage. There are major elevation changes, offering great views but tough distances off the tee.
Falcon ridge definitely suffers in comparison to coyote springs, and is miles behind wolf creek. Having said that, reasonable course, some memorable holes (2,10,16), pretty good condition, greens were far too bumpy, ball actually hopping in the air on some putts. Essentially no range (old net structure) but a pleasant round and worth playing on your wolf creek trip.
I'm just a so-so player but I enjoyed playing 18 at this spectacular course. The good golfers and you know who you are will find fun, challenges and desert scenery at its best.
This is a very scenic track but there are some blind holes and little to no good information available to help you navigate the course. The screens on the carts are helpful to some degree when you can read them in spite of the glare. No food or beverage service on course.........
Short tight front nine, gives way to a longer back nine. Not sure what the complaints on this site are all about. Is it pebble beach ? Nope. But you're in the dessert, where everything is man made. Enjoy it for what it is.
The course was being prepared for overseeding next week but I still had a very enjoyable round. This was my second time playing this course, great views of the Mesquite valley.Greens in very nice condition. The employees at this course are exceptional. From the pro shop to the young men who set up your golf cart and even the grounds keepers out working the course, all are really friendly. Other nearby golf courses in Mesquite should take customer service lessons from the crew at Falcon Ridge....BRAVO to their entire staff.
Layout is great, fair and playable. The front none had many chances to score well, while the back is a bit tougher but more scenic cut through the canyons. Must play!
My husband and I played this course a couple of years ago and recently gave it another try. FR is a nice course that is cut out and woven through the natural hills and valleys of the Mesquite desert. We played in July and the course was in need of water. The carries for women are manageable and the elevated tee boxes make it fun to hit from a longer tee. Play this course when in Mesquite; bring extra golf balls.
This is a good restaurant for lunch or breakfast. Whenever you order, they bring you a bowl of homemade potato chips with this fabulous dipping sauce that has a little kick to it. Their portions are very generous and the food consistently good. The service is great also.
Next to Wolf Creek, this is my favorite course to play in Mesquite. Variety of spectacular holes require good shot making. A must play.
The course had some great views, however it is in large part goofy golf. Blind shots a plenty and to the visitor without a guide you have no idea where to hit except to the pole in the middle of the fairway. Great but do I hit my driver or an iron. On top of that they were punching the fairways which were for the most part burned out. They lost some greens and have tried to make them playable. They were not in good shape. On the positive side the service was good and so was the food in the restaurant. I could also see they were trying to get the course in playable condition but jeepers they are heading into the real heat of summer. I will never play the course again even if in good shape.
I should start by saying that I didn't dislike this course, but I certainly was not in love with it. With all of the vastness of Nevada, why was this course crammed into this space? A number of shots were blind and just really didn't make a lot of sense. The course conditions were good and it was maintained well, it just wasn't my favorite golf in the area. It did seem that many locals were playing there, so I think it serves a good purpose for them.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with Falcon Ridge, this course was shut down in the fall of 2013 because it lost most, if not all, of their greens after overseeding in September. Normally this is a must play course in Mesquite. I have been going down there for over ten years and always enjoyed playing Falcon because of it's great layout. It will probably take some time to recover but hopefully will be in good shape when I go down in October.
To start, it was so windy the day I played that it may be a little difficult to rate the course. I did really enjoy the layout of the front nine. For their "prime season" I did not think the course was in great shape. Several dry spots, tee boxes were pretty torn up, and somebody needs to teach people that play the course to repair ball marks. As I said, the front nine was an enjoyable lay out. On the other hand, I thought the back nine was just a joke. Blind shots are okay on occasion. But, this seemed to me like almost every shot. I'd be willing to give it another chance, but with as many choices as there are in Mesquite/St. George, I'd have to have a lot of days to play or get a heck of a deal. They need to take better care of the course.
Based on recent reviews, I was worried that the course conditions might be disappointing. After playing 36 holes, Falcon Ridge not only proved itself as a great course, but exceeded my high expectations. My personal opinion... Wolf Creek by far, Falcon Ridge, Oasis Palmer, Conestoga in that order. HIGHLY recommend this course on your trip to Mesquite. One critique if I was being picky...the tee boxes should be cut shorter, but don't let that deter you.
