You walk in and there is an SR-71 suspended from the ceiling right in your face...Wow! Sidling over to the ticket / information booth I met "Lefty" the host that day. What a hoot to visit with...a charming gent full of aircraft knowledge. I curved around to the right (under the SR-71)...that is one big aircraft to stand under...huge considering it only had (barely) room for two pilots. Continuing on around I entered the hangar housing the B-17, B-36, U2, F-4 and the B-52 (look up why it was nicknamed the "BUFF") and a bunch of others. There was no pressure to hurry and I was in aircraft hog heaven. Did I mention the whole building was immaculately clean. I did not try out the snack bar. The gift shop has a bewildering array of aircraft related stuff (picked up some small metal models of my faves for the grandkids). The museum has many learning experiences geared towards children...and there were several groups of youngin's taking full advantage while I was there. It was a great afternoon!

I have always wanted to see an SR71 Blackbird since I was a youngster and read about them. Well, you can get up close and personal with one at this museum. It was a check off the bucket list for sure!! The entire museum is a crown jewel. The aircraft are professionally displayed and the interpretive information is very good. An awesome building hosing most of the aircraft. We spent about 2 hours there, but could have spent more time. We will be stopping by again, I am sure. Convenient location right on I-80 between Lincoln and Omaha. If you are doing a cross country jaunt on I-80, time it so that you can stop in. You will be very glad you did.

My team of 10 took a work outing today to visit the museum. While there is clearly a number of quality historic aircraft and pieces of information the overall experience could have been so much better. A Number of the exhibits to include some of the more interactive ones like the simulators were not open for business and staff indicated they would not be open at all this day. Disappointing! Both the up-and- down escalators were not functioning and while not an overly big deal, warning signs should've been posted. The highlight was the Holocaust exhibit which is certainly sobering no matter how many times you've visited. While certainly worthwhile, the overall experience was a bit disappointing for the money.I expect better.

Besides the history of the planes of SAC there is always something for the kids to interact with. Enough cant be said about this museum.

The SAC is a great place to spend an afternoon. Something for all ages and other attractions in the area. A treasure just off I-80!

We stopped by after landing in Omaha. Nice variety of planes with historical information and guides. Planes are for the most part set up in chronological order. Includes bombs and missiles used by the planes. My son enjoyed the simulator downstairs.

Admission $12... not worth it. Robins AFB in Georgia and Pensacola NAS in Florida both have better museums which are FREE ($0). Out in the sticks between Omaha and Lincoln. The day we went gas was $1.99 and I still think I wasted money and time getting there. Save your money and go see a worthwhile museum while on vacation elsewhere. I don't know what these other reviewers are talking about but they must not have ever seen any other air and space museum. This one ought to be free and right next to Offutt AFB.

Plan to spend several hours, they have some really impressive big birds and lots and lots of historical and educational material. Museum is open seven days and admission of $12 is well worth it. Some of the exhibits will make you feel proud at the same time very sad and frustrated but hey, this is our life!

I'm a former SAC warrior that flew KC-135s. Stopped at the museum on a cross-country road trip. The selection of airplanes is outstanding. From B-17, B-29, B-36, B-52, the bombers of SAC are well represented. The tanker, missile, and recee side are less well represented though the SR-71 is the best displayed Blackbird in the world. It's well worth a stop for a few hours. Most of the aircraft are indoors so don't let weather hold you back.

Wow! Incredible! I am almost speechless at this well thought out museum that has a living spirit in it's exhibits! From the cockpit that kids can get into and imagine to the vast amounts of aircraft that carried us through WWII. There is a beautiful section that remembers those of 911 and fallen members. Aside from all of there are hands on options for kids, a lovely art gallery and experiences you can only get here. The Holocaust memorial aka " Searching for Humanity" was brilliant! There is so much going on here, I don't want to give it all away! Great for all ages!

Where else on this planet can you see an SR-71 Blackbird and the mighty B-36 bomber (Six turning and four burning!) in one place? This is one of the best kept secrets in the aviation world. If you love military aircraft, DO NOT miss this jewel in Americas Midwest! Some of the aircraft are not in the best conditions, but work is continuing on restoring them. All of the aircraft that won WWII, Korea, the Cold War, Viet Nam and others are here, B-17, B-25, B-29, B-47, B-52, B-57, B-58 and B-1B along with many fighters of the era. This museum is worth whatever it takes to get there!

If you are an air force or military buff you will love this place. There were tons of aircraft, rockets, and space vehicles to see. We took our kids for a day trip here. There were lots of interesting facts, lots of interesting military information about the various planes, bombs, and rockets used and are part of the Strategic Air Command. The one thing I would say, there were lots of interactive things that were not open, which was kind of disappointing. The kids woudl have had a lot more fun with more hands on stuff, and the hands on science area was the part they enjoyed most (and the adults of course enjoyed least). They do have a nice little snack bar, and we went around lunch so that worked out well. Definitely don't plan for more than 2 hours with the kiddos. Also we heard lots of good comments about the tour days they do, no tours were offered the day we were there, but we heard several people discuss this as the best days to come.

While motorcycle touring though Nebraska I had to stop here. Love going to military museum's. As soon as you walk in you are greeted by seeing a sweet Blackbird hanging from the ceiling. I had a wonderful time viewing everything and learning some awesome history. Best part was when I sat in the pilot seat of a B52 bomber now that was awesome. I rate this place a ten so worth the time to check this place out. I would love to return here and go back for another visit.

It was great. Lots of history. Lots of airplanes. Well displayed and annotated. Interesting stories or local folks from Nebraska. Budget 2 to 3 hours.

This museum is amazing if you're into aircraft and related hardware (like I am). Their collection is outstanding and visitor-friendly. We stopped in during a cross-country motorcycle trip and it was well worth the stop. The lighting on the displayed aircraft was less-than-ideal, but did the job. Yes, we'd stop back in the future - and this time arrange for a tour with a staff rep to learn more about the displayed items.
