Visiting the Camarillo Public Library is an event! I love the mosaics in the main room and the fairy tale feeling of the big boat in the children's area!
Camarillo Library, beautiful architecture, huge, well stocked. Great childrens area, many computers for kids to use. Great used book store.
The Camarillo Library is one of the really outstanding public, community libraries in Southern California. There are many events for young children to adults and the Friends of the Library Bookstore is terrific. The private study rooms are perfect for small groups to gather. Beautiful event rooms are available for very reasonable fees. A real gem!
I have friends that have driven from LA to see this library. It's one of the best I've ever seen. A stunning building with incredible ambiance. As if that wasn't enough, there are a ton of resources. Really worth visiting if you are anywhere near here!
We have an excellent Library up in Thousand Oaks...buuut we prefer going down the hill to the Camarillo Library. It has the feel of an olde Hacienda inside with easy chairs to sit in and a gorgeous area for small kids. At the entrance to the left is a separate used book store where you can pick up great buys...and outside is an independent coffee shop ...sometimes... with tables & chairs (it's in & out of business regularly). This is definitely a place you can spend some time in.
Very clean place Expensive fees if late thought set your alarm to alert youStudy Rooms fill up quickly can not reserve Gift shop is the best to fill your home library
The City of Camarillo has done itself proud by providing this outstanding facility for the residents and visitors for Library services. Besides the outstanding selection and choices of subjects, the library has excellent selections of DVD's and CD's for music and classic movies. There is a separate section for Children and special reading areas for performance readings for children and workshops for Children and Young People. The library also provides study rooms and conference rooms with Wi-Fi connection for your computer. If you do not bring your computer, they have rows of computers available to the public for private use. The facilities are beautiful inside with themed rooms for different parts of the the two level facility.
Thank you for your review — we do think we’re pretty interesting. We’re sorry you had an unpleasant experience with our town, though we urge you give us a second look. The City of Camarillo offers a wealth of unique, locally owned businesses and restaurants, and our library offers over 300 various events and programs throughout the year. With so many options, we’re certain you can find something to enjoy when you return. Did was also mention our Children’s section features the stern of a Pirate Ship? Be sure to bring an eye patch. Arrrggh!
This library is huge and clean! once in awhile, they will have story telling and it is great for the kids!
Camarillo did a great job on this one!! A beautiful & professional place to get lost in! I also Love the used book store attached! Try to get there weekly! Love that you can also make requests on line & they will hold items for a week! Good job camarillo!
Nice location, good atmosphere, wonderful children's area, and a lot of parking. Attached you'll find their book sale area. Inside is a crafts area to show off local talent. Using their non-reserved rooms for meetings works well, if you get there before Noon, otherwise someone else may have snagged one.Nice selection of reference materials and very helpful staff.
What more can you ask for? A beautiful location and architecture. Enough librarians to help you. An amazing kids section with many reading areas and a pirate ship/amphitheater area. They also rent DVD movies for free! Just like a Redbox, but uses only your library card.
Beautiful and thoughtfully designed Library. User friendly and something for everyone. The pirate ship and book columns invite children into the Discovery Center. Includes a storytelling room, homework center, reading areas for everyone, public computers, community, board and conference rooms and a family literacy center with tutoring for individual needs. Wow!
This is the most beautiful building in our City. It has a wonderful kid's discovery zone complete with a ship wreck and other kid friendly decor. There is an ample amount of books on tape and large print books. Upstairs is a computer lounge and a fairly extensive periodical section. Was looking for a book "When the Street Lights Come On" and to my surprise it was on the shelf. Couldn't find this at other libraries. There are lots of quiet rooms for tutors upstairs, and a pretty good schedule of lectures and activities in the conference rooms. Outside the main entrance is a nice little coffee shop and a used book store where just about everything is $1. A fun place to spend time wandering around.
The structure is new. The interior fantastic with California Tiles such as the 1920's everywhere. The Children's Wing is based around a huge pirate ship. They have many books on tape and you can down-load books on you Kindle devise threw the internet at no cost. Check-out of a book lasts 3 weeks and can be extended for another 3 weeks. For reading in the facility there are many newspapers and magazines. There are also public computers. This place has it all!!!
