This tour had a very personal touch, enhanced by the owner who brought some real meaning to her wines and some character to the winery.

Made our trip. This is a place you just can't miss. From the fantastic wines, to enjoying some time with the nicest dogs you'd ever meet. Wonderful place. Next time I will stay at their Cottage on property. Cheers!!!!

Pacific Star Winery was recommended by Paul, the manager of the Shoreline Cottages, where we were staying. It is 12 miles north of Ft. Bragg. The weather was gorgeous, and we enjoyed a glass of wine with cheese and crackers overlooking the Pacific Ocean. We enjoyed visiting with Marcus, who was very friendly and knowledgeable, and who invited us to take a look at the beautiful cottage they rent out (definitely a place I would love to stay at! Isolated with a view of the ocean from your bedroom window) We enjoyed the wine so much I joined the Wine Club. The Orange Muscat is an amazing dessert wine. It's too bad we don't live closer so that we could go more often, but we'll be back.

What a great place to enjoy a glass of wine and watch the sun go down. The owner's are friendly and great to hang out with. The two dogs on the property, Sam and Toby, add a little charm to the place. We enjoyed the wine tasting and sitting out on the picnic tables with some cheese and crackers. You cannot go wrong by making a stop at this place!

North of Fort Brag, in an area where Cypress and Eucalyptus form romantic sun dappled tunnels above Highway 1, Pacific Star winery offers stunning views of the Pacific. Bring a picnic to enjoy along the bluff after your tasting. WARNING: Don't ask any questions! Sally left in the middle of our tasting to "go clean the cabin" after we asked about aging, varietals, and locations of vineyard. My husband was dismayed with her condescension. Never have we met such a snobby winemaker, even at the most prestigious wineries in the Napa valley. I wondered if perhaps she is uncomfortable with anyone who realizes that the young wines she was pouring are lacking in complexity. Regardless, purchase a glass of the least offensive offering and linger over the views. Whales swim close to the bluffs with May being peak season for mothers and calves.

I would definitely try to make this part of your itn it is just 15-20 min from fort brag. Pick up some picnic food and drive on over. You will not regret it. They have a prime spot high above on a bluff facing the beautiful mendocino coast. There is a large picnic area with tables for people to use and enjoy. Buy a bottle of wine and enjoy your lunch.

The sweeping expansive ocean front property of Pacific Star winery is one of the premium wine tasting venues on the planet. North Pacific surf rages and explodes just outside the surf honed boulder fortress of Sally's wine palace. The estate is encircled by a used barrel farm giving a feel for her craft and palate as you pull through the front gate. Sally pours sips of the exquisite Pacific Star lineup while dispensing sips of local and pertinent enology, culture, geology, tourism and politics. Great wine and gracious and charming hostess, CEO. One of the must do highlights of any NorCal venture. Thanks for the fun, fermentations and vista Sally.

We LOVED this place. Sally was incredibly hospitable and friendly, allowing us to take our time and savor each wine and get to know her and the incredible winery that she owns. You'll be surprised by how good the wines are, especially the Viognier and the Zinfandel- to me, the two best she offers. Spend some time and ask her about wine making in the 70's and 80's in California, and you'll be regaled with great and memorable stories of the various regions before they became famous. We really enjoyed talking with her, and pretty soon, she felt like a good friend to us.After your tasting, get a glass or bottle of wine (and some cheese- they sell that, too) and walk the grounds- which are beautiful enough to literally be a park. She has an amazing and unique property- like nothing you will ever see at *any* other winery- and drinking an exceptional Pacific Star wine while taking it all in serves as the perfect ending to a trip to this amazing and unique winery. I will just say that we'd never consider coming to Mendocino without stopping by Pacific Star, and you shouldn't either. Not to be missed.

You will enjoy the wine and you won't whine about the views. Bring a picnic lunch and eat by the sea.

The Pacific Star Winery, offers wine tasking Wednesday through Sunday from 11 am to 5 pm. For $5, you can taste six different wines, two white and four red. They do not have a vineyard, but process local grapes. Glasses of their wine are also available, from $7 to $10, as well as bottles and cases. They ship as few as three bottles. The wine was interesting, although not outstanding. However, the views from their property were truly some of the most spectacular costal views in the country, if not the world. It is about 30 minutes north of Mendocino on Route 1. Definitely worth the trip.

I love sitting outside enjoying the ocean while my husband samples the wines. There are picnic tables and adirondack chairs spread around the property.

We first visited when the owner, Sally, had her Dad working there. Her Dad's Daily Red honors him and his memory. It's always delicious and affordable. We joined the wine club years ago and enjoy the wines very much. This year, we stopped at Harvest and picked up a yummy picnic and took a bottle of Charbono down to the tables. The beagle begged the whole time, lol! Last time, we saw several whales. Bring your binoculars. This is truly one of the most unique wineries you'll ever see. The staff is great as well!

Came here with my mother who is a wine club member. It is about a 15 minute drive from Fort Bragg along highway one. Small winery - owner lives on site with her two loveable dogs. There are some tiny cottages that you can rent for the night - would be a cool place to stay. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Wine was lovely. Most important is the picnic area with great views. They have food for purchase but we brought food in from the local grocery store. Great experience.

The winery with the the most amazing views. Hands down. Breathtaking I should say. Friendly staff and great wine.

This winery has the best view! It’s a short 30 minute drive from Fort Bragg but well worth it. The owner Sally was a great host. She was very nice and knowledgeable about the wines and the area. The wines were good and priced well. She encouraged us to walk around the winery, especially by the picnic area. We opened a bottle of wine and sat near the ocean and enjoyed one of the best views of the Pacific Ocean. I can’t wait to go back to Pacific Star Winery!
