Mt Aukum has one of the best views in the area. It's a stunning place to visit. The day we went in they were pouring some wines that tasted a bit old. We did find a favorite among then however. The Zin was pretty good.
In November 2013, my husband and I visited Mount Aukum Winery given a recommendation. While the view was spectular with the winding road up and down, we were disappointed in the wines. Most were heavy and plummy--with that said, we did buy a bottle of the Mouvedre. With this great view, I would recommend bringing sandwiches and your own bottle of wine. There are tables and chairs available.
Incredible drive- would be worth the views alone- nice bonus that the wine was great too! We made the trip via motorcycle... Was one of the best days of our trip!
Fun place to taste, the view is unbeatable and the wine is great. We stop in for festival and many other visits! A great place to relax on your wine tasting and take in the scenery!
Six of us had Lunch ( catered lunch box) and tasting at this Winery. Michelle and his Daughter in Law( forgot her name) were wonderful and we had a great time. We left with a couple Cases and if you want the best Veggie Sandwich EVER, ask them who catered( it was Azel? Or something like that). This is my second trip to this Winery and we will be back
It's a trek to get up the tasting room but worth the twist and turns when you start tasting the wine. This is a real find if you like fruit-forward Reds (as we do). The hosts were engaging and socially-minded, talking about their charity work. They seemed proud of their products without being pushy. We thought the trip here was well worth it.
The narrow twisting road leads you to spectacular views of the Sacramento Valley and the Sierra Nevada mountains. Here, "elevation matters", a tag phrase that makes perfect sense once you take a seat on the patio and spread out your picnic! In the tasting room, you'll find a wide selection of wines, but Mount Aukum is best known for its Zinfandels and its Petite Sirahs. Don't miss the blends and dessert wines too! Tasting room staff is friendly and informative, and it's easy to see why so many people like to linger on a breezy afternoon. A wonderful place to visit during regional or local winery events as well as any other day.
