Wonderful walk around the lagoon and next time will wear hikers so I can hike up the hills. Friendly people, very safe. Saw a snake, lots of geese, cranes.
Best hike that I have found locally. The Tower Hike is apx 4 miles round trip from the entrance. Dog friendly, but dogs must be on leashes. Your butt will thank you later!
When you first get to the park, the parking is really bad. But after you find a place, the park is really nice. It has a long walk that you can do which is a fair bit of exercise up and down hills. It is fairly scenic, and it is nice to be there.
We love walking the many trails. Near the lagoon, there is a playground for the kids and bathrooms nearby along with many areas for BBQs and picnics. Watch out for the geese! They are plentiful and are used to being fed so can be aggressive. If you like Disc Golf, come bring your Frisbees! Some of the walking paths are easy walks and some are steep hikes, something for everyone. There is a Redwood Tree Grove near the Butcher Rd entrance with picnic areas. Beware that cars can get broken into if left on Butcher Road. It is the end of a dead end road. We have parked there many times safely but have heard others have not been so fortunate. If you take the Pena Adobe Exit off Highway 80 you can visit the old Pena Adobe, not open to the public all the time. There is a great place to rent out for large groups with many picnic tables and shade along with a large grass area. Be sure to check out where the Vacaville pioneers first lived!
I liked the peace and quiet while enjoying the walk along the hills, found them challenging and going at my own pace, very pleasant .
I love coming here year round for a good hike and beautiful views. There are so many different trails to go on and different routes depending on how good of a hiker you are. I love to pack a sandwich, hike all morning and eat lunch somewhere with a view. There is also horses on the property next to one of the trails, I'll bring them apples occasionally.
Very nice place to go for a hike/walk/bike/picnic/dog walk. Never too crowded. Nice views of Vacaville :)I recommend the somewhat steep hike up to the tv tower.
I like that this is a family park for strolling, hiking, picnics. The geese are a tad messy/poopy but otherwise fine.
Great hiking, single tracking, good all around for just getting out for a walk on the flatlands or for the super steep trails to the towers at the top of the hills. Bring your dog, but watch out for the head butting cows in the hills. This is a great place, Vacaville is really lucky to have it.
This is a great place for animal lovers to visit. There are Pelicans on the lake at times, horse and rider and of course the obligitory dog walkers. You can choose how hard you want too exert yourself. The park has a doggy play area, or you could walk around the lake, for the more adventurous there are the hills to climb and get a magnificant view of the valley. This park is steeped in history and if you have a day to explore, bring a picnic, you are guaranteed to go home with a lot of interesting facts about the area.
Lots of trails to ride your bikes, walk your dog, ride your horse, practice archery, or windsurf the Lagoon.
I have lived in Vacaville for almost 12 years but only started visiting this park in 2012. This is a great park to hike or walk your dog. Great views if you hike to the third tower. This park is beautiful in spring. This is my favorite local hiking spot.
This is a nice big park with varied terrain for walking, running or bike riding. Fun to go climb the tower hill. Always families, runners, folks with dogs (on leashes except in the dog park). A very social park with plenty of room for everyone and all levels of fitness and activity. They have a frisbee golf course as well as 1-track bike trails and trail running. And of course you can simply stroll around the lake and enjoy the water fowl and the babies in strollers.
This is a great place for family outings. There are hiking trails, a Horticultural Garden, picnic tables and barbeques. There is a nominal fee for parking (paying it helps maintain it!) The lake area is a great place for bird watching, so bring a good pair of binoculars! There is also a path that makes for great exercise that goes all the way around the lake. Bring your insect repellent as well if you are prone to insect bites!
If you live in the area, you must stop at this place once. SO much to see and do. A great stop for all ages. There is even an archery area.
