We camp here quite a bit and always have a great time. I try to get a lakeside spot so we can watch the ducks swim on the lake. There is also a waterpark that my kids love in the summer.

Nice camp sights and great scenery but trains run by every 20 minutes all night long. Bathrooms are ok but could use improvement.

Park people need to crack down on after hours visitors. Tent camping is way to close together and people let others free load. Giving combo to the gate out.not cool

If you don't mind black widows everywhere, the filthiest restrooms with no paper products, people playing loud music at 4 am, and trains sounding like they're rolling right over you day and night 12 minutes apart. Then this is for you. I wouldn't stay here again even if i had a free year pass. And the staff doesn't even know what's going on in their own park

Wow, I was surprise to see a nice camping place and so close to home. If, you love to fish, this is the place for you. Had a wonderful time with the whole family.

We went for an afternoon in the desert heat. The splash pad / water area was the main attraction - the kids loved it and adults could get in to cool off too. There is a large sand area and playground next to the splash pad. The sand area has good shade. The kids liked bringing water to the sand area. I recommend bringing sand toys! There are picnic tables around, most in the shade. No vending machines or food service, so bring everything in coolers. I thought the bathrooms were ok, but might want to bring your own toilet paper; they were running low and no one was around restocking. The pavement and sand that's not wet or in shade was blazing hot --- caution for burning bare feet! Aqua shoes or sandals a must, or run fast. However, watch out for trash; I cut my foot while running to get to cool ground. There are alot of small trash pieces in the sand and around.Don't rely on online directions to find the place - they got us lost! Best is just off the I-15 freeway at Bear Valley, then to Ridgecrest. There is gate fee, $8/car. Ranger in pay booth was helpful for directions home.

The camp ground is nice. There is plenty to do to keep all ages happy. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Centrally located to the area restaurants and shopping. We have tent camped and rv camped here with children ranging from 4-14 The bathrooms are nasty in great need of upgrading and cleaning.

I'm writing this the evening of our stay. We have a truck camper and try to state in State Parks that have hook-ups. The lake is active with many different kinds of birds. The RV spots are flat, spacious and most back up to the sandy beach area of the lake. The bathrooms are my only complaint. They do need some updating. The train tracks are close and busy, but we have heard worse highway traffic some parks.

horseback riding, fishing, and a trail that takes you away from everything. Great place to picnic or have a party.

Spring and summer are the best times to visit. If we get too much rain it gets pretty marshy. Nothing fancy just grass, trees and open pastures. The "lake" is not much to speak of and not much to catch for eat'n. But will to nice on a summer picnic.

This information appeared Wed., March 13, 2013 in the Victorville Daily Press. After three empty years, the Mojave Narrows Regional Park in Victorville will soon see the restoration of Horseshoe Lake.Repair work began on the popular lake in early February according to a news release from San Bernardino County Regional Park officials, on schedule to complete the project by mid-July.“Horseshoe Lake is such a beautiful and truly unique setting — a great place to relax with the family,” 1st District Supervisor Robert Lovingood stated in the release. “So, it’s great news that the lake will soon open again.”A storm in January 2010 destroyed a dam and the lake drained, washing more than 1,000 pounds of trout and catfish onto established wetlands and into the Mojave River.Officials hope to restore the lake to an “optimal depth for fish habitat” — 8 feet — by removing sediment. Improvements will also be made to the levee to handle storm water flows, according to the release.Once the lake water is restored, the release states it will be restocked with fish after being tested for proper temperatures and pH levels.Close to 13,000 visitors in 2009 enjoyed bird watching and fishing at Horseshoe Lake that was once home to trout, catfish, bluegill, bass and crappie.A portion of the Horseshoe Lake dam was also repaired after being breached by heavy rains and flood water in 2008.

my only complaint is the cost - we would go more often if it were cheaper! Love the playground and the ponds and the open space. The animals are fun, too.

They have an incredible water park here! The whole car can get in for a one day user fee and we love it!

We've been going to the Narrows since we purchased our RV in 2004. They do have full hook up RV sites, as well as many dry camping sites that tents or RV's can use. One drawback is the train traffic. The railroad tracks are just west of the park and very, very close. The trains go by all nite long and if you dont get a site closer to the dried up lake you'll be woken up several times per nite. There are even some engineers who love to blast their horns as they pass the campground.Several years ago we had some pretty serious rainfall. As a result, Horseshoe lake had a dirt dam that failed and all of the water (and fish) drained out. Horseshoe is a fairly decent sized lake, much bigger than the smaller Pelican lake which still exists. For a while prior to this, they had been upgrading the park and it was really looking good, but since then the county has done nothing except increase the price per night.I would guess that its because the county (the biggest countyin the country) has too many welfare bums who need the money worse than the park does. On to the dry camping areas, they tend to attract the loud, hip hop listening to crowd..since 2004 we've seen it all there. If the county fixed the lake it would be much better, and going in the winter pretty much insures that those loud partiers wont be tent camping. We do enjoy spending a weekend there because we get to use the RV and its close to where we live.C'mon, San Bernardino county....fix the lake!

Close to Victorville, this park offers group and full hook-up camping for $35 a night! The camping spots are just the right distance from each other so privacy is good. They offer horseback riding, large playground (biggest one I have ever seen) and hiking. This is a wetlands area but the water is dried up, losing 1 point. There is a sign posted that explains the problem but it should be fixed. It appears the large homes above the park have plenty of water as there is a lake in the center of their development! (Gee... I wonder where all the water went?!) Plenty of grass and scattered trees for a picnic. Coyotes were out at dusk, no mistaking that howl! Watch your pets. There were alot of coyotes! Firepits...
