Yep, it's a big tree in the ground. We were expecting more signage and history, but only found a few blank signs.I wouldn't go out of my way to see it, but if you're bumming around town it's worth a 10 minute stop. It's size is really impressive.

The tree is huge and its roots are huge above ground - I'd guess knee high. There isn't a whole lot of parking near the tree, so you need to plan your stop, but it's well worth the stop.

I guess this is worth a drive by, but not a stop over. We wanted to see this huge tree, and it was huge, because people on trip advisor said it was worth it to stop by, however if you're in the area, it's worth a drive by. Not more than that

I decided to visit this tree with my family and we were not disappoined. There's a parking lot at the location that is free for the first hour, and you definitely won't be there for an hour. My daughter is 18 months old so she didn't really "get it". She still had fun running around the tree and trying to climb on the gigantic roots. We took some awesome family pictures around the tree and it was amazing. There's a large grass area on one side of the tree where you can stand back and take some great pictures. If you have the right lens you might be able to catch the entire reach of the tree's branches, but I doubt it. This tree isn't out of the way at all it's definitely worth the 5 minutes it'll take you to get there from the highway. You just have to see this tree if you're in the area.

Visited yesterday- 2 familes with 2 n 3 yr olds- quick stop - parking. Street parking free for 2hrs, parking in amtrak station next to tree is free for 75min..try either one.- good picture stop- climbing on tree not allowed so there you go..

This tree is enormous. Describing how enormous this tree is will just not do it justice. It incredibly beautiful. The roots extend across the entire block and some of them came up to my waist in height. You could lay down in the roots and not be seen. Such a cool tree and definitely worth the stop. There is parking on the street near by.

This tree is very close to the Santa Barbara train station which is very cute. The tree is gigantic and worth a visit if you're touring. It won't take more than 5 minutes, unless you happen to be a tree expert.

When I first told my family we were going to visit a tree..they all laughed. That was until we drove up to this majestic tree. The tree is HUGE and BEAUTIFUL. The kids spent at least an hour walking around the tree and admiring its beauty. There is also a historic train car next to the tree and a plaque where children can read/learn about how the seed of this tree was planted. There is a small rope around the tree but everyone visiting was getting close to the tree (but not climbing). There were some homeless sleeping around the roots of the tree so I encourage to keep your kids close.

This is a 5-minute activity, but worth a visit. This is an absolutely enormous tree--so big it looks like something from Jurassic Park. Not much more to say about a big tree, but it's neat.

This is kinda of a corny thing, but I love this tree. The first time I saw it I mistook it for a huge magnolia, and thought wow that is big. Now that I know its a fig tree, it blows my mind. If only the figs were edible, it could feed 1/2 the town! Definitely drive by it at the very least, it is worth a peek :)

There's just something about a big tree that makes you want to hug it. The Moreton Bay Fig Tree in Santa Barbara was no exception. If you're going to visit the tree, do quick google search to find out the history of the tree. It makes it more interesting. The tree itself wasn't hard to find, but parking was a bit confusing due to construction that was taking place. We ended up parking on the street, and it worked out just fine. You are supposed to stay behind the chain, but we didn't see the sign until we were leaving. Ooops!

We managed to wander our way past the rail road depot to find this HUGE tree. Do take a few minutes to see this wonder when you are in Santa Barbara

Montecito Street is hard to find on the map as it is ELEVATED over State Street. Therefore, from State Street, the major street of the Historic District and shopping district, take the LEFT on WEST YANONALI and then continue and take the right on Chapala and left on Montecito. The tree inps as enormous as reported. The map from the Visitir Center does not show these streets clearly.

It's a tree. It's old. It's big. So are lots of other trees. There's one just like it in Santa Paula. If you have to get excited about a tree, go see the world's largest, El Tule in Oaxaca.
