desert view park

The views are breath taking and the air is so nice. We stopped here to take some photos of the mountains and valleys. I recommend to stop here for photos.

I'd driven to Julian before, coming south from Los Angeles, but this time my girlfriend and I were driving the "back way," east and then north from San Diego. We were only a few miles from Julian when we saw a vista viewpoint, which turned out to be named Desert View Park.I wouldn't really call it a park. It's just a turnout that offers scenic views of the surrounding landscape, specifically the desert southeast of Julian. There are no amenities of any kind. Of course I didn't expect a restroom or drinking fountain, but there isn't even a bench to sit on or shade from the sun. Other than the road, the only thing there is a sign with the names of the donors.We were there a bit after noon, and the view of the desert at that time is okay but not ideal. The view is certainly more impressive earlier or later in the day when the shadows are longer. Since the location is far away from large cities, I bet the sky must be amazing at night. If I was staying in the area, I would love to drive out to Desert View Park at night to see the Milky Way and watch a meteor shower.
