We stayed on a yurt in the state park, it was very clean and the showers were the best we have ever used in any state park, national park or LOA type establishment. The town it self was very quiet but all seemed friendly enough, there wasn't much to do but we were only on a 1 night stop so it didn't matter much.
We visited Devil's Lake at the end of June. While the lake is picturesque, there really isn't much to do. There is a casino and some hiking trails but we did not see any boats or water activity there.
The surrounding areas are beautiful and the fishing is absolutely world-class, along with the hunting. But it can be hard to enjoy if you're not the right shade of skin. Most of North Dakota is Caucasian so you don't get the friendliest service if your a little darker than usual. Minorities, prepare to be stared at.
It is a big area to fish but if you know where to go you will get non stop fishing action. My husband, brother and our friends had a blast. We are heading back in a few weeks!
We fished from shore and caught huge northerns--bigger than we see in Minnesota. Even caught fish off the closed, washed out roads. Unbelievable!
Everyone in Devils Lake friendly. The fireside Inn is strategically located within the city and dining facilities are close as well as shopping needs.
people are very friendly. But I am bios since I live her. Great place to raise a family and to visit for a quiet relaxing vacation. Planty of hunding and fishing to be had in this neck of the woods.
Me and some friends borrowed a friends boat for the day and just went out and floated on the lake. We were able to swim and just have fun. You can go around the lake all day and not see the same thing twice.
One word "drity" was not a clean looking town. I can't say we spent a lot of time here the people were not the friendliest. The lake though was huge
What a bust, we traveled all the way from Illinois to see Devils Lake and could not get near it because of construction. When we got to town, we could not understand why there were so many filthy, dirty cars everywhere. I mean you could not even make out the license plate or make of the car, they were that dirty. We got on the road that was to take us across the lake and this is where we encountered the dirty cars. The road was under construction, bulldozers everywhere pushing dirt to hold back the lake. I had just bought a new car in Dec and was not about to travel any further down that road. All that way for nothing. The town is kind of depressing, junky houses not much there. Don't plan on going back anytime soon.
every thing was great cought many fish of many veriteys
liked most everything other than the 10000000 diffrent spots to fish,,,
the fishing on Devil's Lake is plentiful, we caught record fish . The people there are very courteous and friendly. They have plenty of restaurants, gas stations , grocery stores and bait shops with guides. The only thing we could not find was gift shops to purchase memorabilia from the trip and gifts for the grand kids, very disappointed. As famous as Devil's lake is you would think they would have gift shops for tourists.
