mcalester pass-rainbow lake loop

We just backpacked this loop starting at the South Fork camp site the first night. The PCT was pretty mellow the first day, then we camped on the Bridge Creek. This creek crossing was intense as you have to cross on foot, the water is knee high or so and rushing. The rest of the day was challenging as well as you hike through a not too defined trail then you have to cross a hillside of talus (a few places were pretty precarious) before you cross over the pass to Rainbow Lake. We stayed at Rainbow Lake, then out the next morning. Wishing we had made our hike to High Camp in two days rather than one, it was a long days hike. The last day is long, but not nearly as taxing as day two and three. I would say you need to be a pretty experienced hiker/backpacker to do this loop. Five dollar fee per day for parking at Bridge Creek trailhead.
