I ate here at the end of summer on a Sunday afternoon. There was one bartender to serve the bar and pool. Still the pool or bar wasn't very busy and the food took forever. The Bartender was pleasant and brought our food out to the pool 45 minutes later for two sandwiches with fries and chicken tenders. The food was hot and ok but not worth the wait.
First, I live in Pine Forrest Country Club. There is a lovely golf course with lots of wildlife: storks, egrets, fox squirrels (who only live on golf course, grey squirrels everywhere else) and other critters. It is a challenging course with man-made hills and water features all over the place. Weather here generally is mild if on the damp side. It is a public course, so give it a try.
Great course for those with a better than average handicap. The tees, fairways, and greens are all maintained well. The clubhouse has good food and very reasonably priced. You can play here year round.
Played the course several times recently with our nephew, good value but you need to be accurate with lots of water hazards cost us lots of balls the first time out. Nice and friendly clubhouse with good food and again very reasonable prices. Good staff in the pro shop also.
Nice golf course. I came here today with my 24 yr old son. He enjoyed it! Price was good! Course was beautiful! We had a great evening!!!!
Played here during vacation. My game was no match for the first four holes - challenging doesn't begin to explain. After getting to the 5th hole. & beyond I held my own but the score card was already a mess. Very fair layout but you need to be a long hitter to get a good score from white tees. Very quaint little pro shop. Very helpful lady was on duty the day we played. Would play here again but need more time on driving range first. Recommend the course!!
Pine Forest is a nice hidden gem in Summerville. The course itself plays tough, with lots of water, deep rough and contouring fairways. Finding a flat lie can sometimes be tricky. The greens were in fantastic shape but not overly quick, and balls rolled true. The course layout is superb. This is a course that demands accuracy off the tee, and it you don’t find the fairway you can find yourself in trouble quickly. Nothing about this layout is generic at all, with each hole having its own personality. I especially enjoyed “little augusta”, #12, a difficult short par 4 with water on all sides. Another feature that I really enjoyed was the existence of grass bunkers on some holes. This is something I had not experienced before, and it was interesting to play out of them for the first time. The clubhouse has a nice bar/restaurant and the food for lunch was good. Staff was friendly as well. The only knock I can come up with was the cart paths are in terrible shape. I typically walk but this round took a cart with someone who is less mobile. The course was playing cart part only, and there were way too many places were the pine tree roots are upending the asphalt, creating huge “speed bumps” where we literally had to bring the cart to a complete stop before proceeding over, knocking around our clubs and beverages.Overall I give Pine Forest an A-. A challenging yet playable course with an interesting layout and friendly staff.
Challenging course, acuracy will be rewarded, greens were a little on the rough side, there is hidden water on almost every hole.
layout...was great wish the greens were better.....very affordable friendlly staff...lots of water lost 7 balls
I have played virtually every semi private and resort course in the Charleston area from the Ocean Course on down and this course will give you all the game you want, even from the whites (Slope 132!) Hazards everywhere, contouring, gnarly rough around the greens and what challenging greens they are. Beautiful pine lined fairways demand accuracy. Recommend you play the first time with a local who knows his way around- not all hazards are fully visible. I usually play on bent grass- so bermuda always set me back a bit but some of these pin positions playing in Nov with the greens thin in places were impossible. They need to let up in the cooler months. I played around Thanksgiving but for $38 this was a steal. Give it a try. PS: They built a really nice new Clubhouse but left the pro-shop in a cramped funky trailer. ?????
