Takes about an easy mile hike to get to the viewing spot. Well worth it. One of the most spectacular viewing spots of Linville gorge. This is where the military jets practice. This view is incredible summer or winter. Absolutely incredible.... Highly recommend it.
One mile to the top via rock and trail. It's only a mile to the top and on the day we hiked, fog was rolling in and out, but it was an adventure. Had some great views going up and coming down. Beautiful wildflowers all along the trail which was part shallow stream from water coming off the mountain.
Hiking Table Rock is a fun and challenging one mile hike one way. The views of the gorge are impressive. I think anytime of year is a good view as the scenery will change with the seasons. It is quite peaceful and serene. You can also get a nice view from the other side of the gorge at Wisemans View. It is a walk from the parking lot vs the Table Rock hike. I suggest you do both.
Table Rock is a beautiful place with two (at least) trails to the top. Although this is the main attraction, the more magnificent hike is throughout The Chimneys, across the parking lot and through the campground. I literally caught my breath the first time I did this trail with my grown (climber) children. Every turn holds another wonder. You are on the top of Linville Gorge and the river is a tiny ribbon at the bottom. If you climb (and we all do-me the least experienced) you will relish the opportunity to scale the rocks. The view is even more fantastic seventy or so feet above the trail! But hike or climb, just enjoy the experience.
We took our young grandchildren, ages 3 and 5, on the hike up to the Rock a couple of weeks ago. We had to help them a bit but they both enjoyed it. The well maintained, 12 mile, 20 mph gravel road is a real treat if you like driving through a hardwood forest. The colors were just beginning to change. Great place for a picnic as well and the restrooms are handy. Several other trails worth hiking but we didn't have the time. With the kids living locally, it'll be a repeat for sure.
This was our first time and worth the drive. It is about 8 miles on a twisty gravel road to get to the parking area, and then a mid-level 1 mile hike up to the top, but all worth it once you get there. Just sitting there taking it all in for about an hour. Probably not for small children, they do have a bathroom at the parking area.
This is a family friendly, dog friendly, single friendly place to go hike, kayak, and enjoy nature. Not far from really cool cities and good places to eat. When first head up the trails you are at the falls. They are throughout all of the trails. This is especially enjoyable for those who do not like to hike far to see falls. Weekends and weekdays alike are great. The cost for activities is reasonable and the staff is very helpful and friendly. Check it out!
This place is awesome..Gorgeous place to go and hike and spend some good family time. The trails can be a little treacherous but nothing major..Good family fun enjoying the great outdoors..
Disappointed because we drove to see it and the park was closed. Really would have been nice to see.
This place is off the beaten path so it is very private. Nature and trails are well marked and views are incredible.
Unbeatable for the views! Made great pictures! will be going back!
Overall a pretty cool trip Good views and great places to climb
very nice it looks like a table thats why they call it table rock
The hike is mildly strenuous, but well worth the effort. A must when the blueberries are ripe!
Trails for beginners & expert hikers. Gorgeous views. Don't forget to pack your water!
