We discovered Blue Springs Cavern this winter and attended an Overnight Adventure. It consists of three parts: a demonstration of caveing climbing techniques, a 'wilding' crawl through a short section of the cave, and a longer boat trip. The crawl was somewhat strenuous and more than a bit claustrophobic (for this leader- the boys were fine.) The rope demonstration was interesting but not so useful, here anyway. The boat trip was magical, however. Amazingly quiet, beautiful and surprisingly full of wildlife, as we saw five of the featured species that live/visit there. The bunks for overnight were not too comfortable and I advise bringing a pad to supplement the thin one on the bed. Even the boys complained about the support bar that digs into your back. The brochure says no sleeping pads but there's no obvious reason to outlaw them and plenty of reason to bring them. The hot breakfast was pretty good, too. And the snack bar was affordable!

it is a fun trip under the cave system that runs for miles underground in Lawrence Co. They do a good job of explaining the beginnings of the cave and all the exploration that continues. You get to experience the different formations and also complete darkness. It stays 55 degrees year round and the tour guides always have fun little things they do. Would highly recommend the experience at least once.

It's been quite awhile since we visited Bluespring Caverns. But what I recall most about the trip was the friendliness of the workers and tranquility of the cave. Do yourself a favor this summer and make the trip. You'll be glad you did.

So magical... being 100 feet underground in a boat.. seemed like we were swallowed by a whale..Saw a crawfish and bats..little frogs everywhere.. Half way through our guide.. who was awesome.. played a wooden flute.. was if we went back in time ... .the music . gave me chills . I had tears streaming down my face... touched my heart... felt so blessed..We will never forget it....

The entrance to the cavern is through what use to be a pond. It was formed when the bottom of it collapsed. You walk down a long concrete ramp, into the entrance and to the boat. The entire tour is on a boat. This is a nice relaxing tour with a very knowledgeable guide.

In this natural cavern -you have the longest navigable underground river. You go on these little boats, it's kind of fun, and kind of goofy. If you're into roadside America type things, you'll love this, It's really cool, (and cool, a nice respite from summer heat). If you're claustrophobic, you may want to take a pass.

Boat rides on the hour this time of year. At other times, they may have all four boats taking tours at the same time about 15 minute apart, so my husband and I felt very lucky that we got a relaxing one-hour tour alone, even though the boats will hold 17 people. We had a wonderful tour guide who was very knowledgeable about the cave system. Ask questions! Not sure what time the place opens, but we got there at 9:15 am, so we just missed the 9:00 am tour. We left to go eat and got back in time for the 11:00 am tour. Even at that time, ours was the first tour of the day, (not too many people this time of year), and is the best because you are more apt to see the blind fish and crayfish and we even heard a frog croaking. There are only a few bats living here, so we didn't get to see any of them. There is a 1/2 mile nature walk to a large sinkhole, but we did not take it. Just forgot! The visitor center has a gift shop to meander through while waiting for the tour.Tours cost $16 for adults and $8 for children 3-15. You can print a coupon for $2 off at their website. We thought it was well worth the money.Be sure to take a jacket and wear long pants. It is between 50-55 degrees.

Very cool cavern! Our boat tour guide was very knowledgable and could answer any of our questions. The cavern was an excellent condition as well. We did have to wait an hour for the next tour and there wasn't really anything to do so that was boring, but still worth the wait. Very fun place to stop with your family! The tour was just under an hour long.

Our tour guide really seemed to enjoy his job and was able to explain the history of the cave and the area. He made the tour interesting and pointed the major points of the cave. This is a boat ride tour, darkness at times and peace and quite can be found. we did not get to see any blind fish due to murky water and recent rain, lots of frog were inside but the cave itself was worth the visit. the trail for the sinkhole had numbers markers but we did not have a handout on what each stop was trying to point out.

Just a hop, skip and a jump fromIndianapolis. Brought 6 kids, age 2-12 and had lots of fun. Walk down to cave is steep and slippery, but don't let that stop you. Boat ride is informative and fun. Great way to start cave visits. Loved the demonstrations that our Guide gave us on darkness, cave thunder and especially when he played his Native American Flute. The kids loved mining for gems and fossils. What a great day trip!

Extremely interesting experience to be below ground on a River---excellent guide and smooth floating. Peaceful and informative...the walk down and back to/from the cavern opening could be a physical challenge for some so I would ask if there is an option if that is an issue. Will go back with others for sure!

It's not often that you can take a boat ride through an underground cavern. Seeing the critters that live under the water was a great experience. The ride was about an hour or so and the park ranger was very knowledgable.

Make sure you dress warm. It gets very cold at only 54! An hour long boat ride. Very steep in and out of the entrance. Don't bring babies, they will cry when the lights go out. And when other things happen. Kids can enjoy looking for gems. Gift shop is nicely priced.
