Liked the theater, very cute, built in the late 1800s, looked like the kind of theater where Lincoln was shot. We saw Les Miserables here, yes it was a little-theater production, not the big broadway one, so the sound system is not perfect nor is the caliber of performers, BUT we enjoyed it just the same. Nice date night. Recommended.

When in the world would you expect such professional singing and acting to make a totally entertaining performance? Why, in Valparaiso, WHY NOT?

I love this old theatre for a great "date night" with my husband. They have local talent and they are as good as you would see in a big city. Sign up for their emails and get first hand notices of what is coming. Free parking across the street in the city lot, and the price of a ticket is extremely reasonable. Wine is served at a reasonable price too. It is a "small town" atmosphere and that's why we love it! They have a beautiful display of trees and decorations at Christmas, so lots of families come and take pictures, plus they have a great show too. They have concerts, plays, musicals and you are able to rent the theatre for a wedding or any other type of "party"!

The memorial opera house is located is a landmark building that hosts several plays and musical acts. The size of the venue makes every seat excellent. The quality of the performances is top notch.

I loved the show. I was irritated by a photographer that was probably being paid for advertising the oprea house but it felt like a huge distraction!

I only went there once, but I don't see any reason not to give it a "5" rating. There isn't a bad seat in the house and the architecture is very interesting. It's pretty inside and it is an intimate atmosphere. I assume all shows are priced differently, but we went to see a vaudeville type act for only $10.

It was completely redone some years ago but again is showing its age. Quality community theatre productions are scheduled throughout the year. If your schedule permits, a show and dinner at one of surrounding restaurants is a worthwhile experience. I have never taken a tour.

A truly historic venue in which to be entertained or informed. While not as comfortable as a new theater, you'll find yourself immersed in history here. Check out a bit of the history before you go and it'll make your visit even more pleasurable

This 1893 building is dedicated to the ..:soldiers and sailors of the Civil War..."It has been used as a memorial hall, vaudeville stage, and home to community theatre since 1955...The Community Theatre Guild is credited for saving this wonderful venue.Musical theatre is the big draw with "brown bag" concerts at lunchtime.

Once you walk in you are taken back in time. In the foyer are plaques and pictures, and newspaper clippings. Inside the Opera House looks much as it did years ago. It is a snug, friendly atmosphere and watching enything on the stage here is intimate and exciting. Love the architecture and the seating. The whole experience is a treasure and the building is a symbol of times past. Loved it!

The place is very old, and terribly underfunded for the infrastructure work it needs. However, I have very warm memories of seeing singer/songwriter Michael McDermott here......as well as a fun production of "Oklahoma." Sound quality is okay, and seating is old but okay. Staff is FANTASTIC: friendly, extremely helpful, warm, welcoming: what a difference from some Chicago venues. btw, history buffs: John Philip Sousa performed here!

Wonderful venue--saw a very well done community theater play there. Lovely restored opera house, lots of vintage charm and comfortable seats as well

This was our first time here and didn't really know what we were getting ourselves into. We had a blast. The theater is on the smaller size which also means there really isn't a bad seat in the house. The staff was excellent and very friendly. The performance was absolutely wonderful and well acted. They use more talent here and less digital. I prefer that. Seating wise it would help if we were taller because there is not a lot of angle in this theater but it wasn't bad. For the price its hard to beat. It you drove to chicago you would have just paid for your parking or sat in the last row. We enjoyed it and plan on coming back often.

An opportunity for us to go back in time to a place where digital technology wasn't necessary to create a lovely voice. Striking and memorable experience!

Historic venue for community theater, performances, and art movies. Historic theater, valuable community asset, but needs a little upkeep. Remember, this place is a 19th century venue, so don't be disappointed by small size and simple decor. This place was a palace in the 1800's.
