If you are a nordic skier, or want to learn, this is literally the best place in WI. Expert skier or beginner, they can even set you up with rental skis and classes how to cross country ski. This place is reliable and beautiful. There are really hard Birkie-Like trails and easy flat trails (cookie trail). The warming chalet sells food and beverages, and there are wood fires and warming huts (e.g. the tea hut) along the vast km of trails. This place is truly a WI treasure.
Had a great time at Winter Park. Good variety of trails. Everything well kept. Rented skis at the hill, and the equipment was like new and in great condition.
Helpful staff and lots of scenic trails for several winter sports. Great for beginner snowshoers like myself. We chose an easy trail that went through a bog, wound through the woods and past the tea house, which unfortunately wasn't open, but looked inviting. Trail was well marked with snowshoe signs but light on mileage signs. We especially enjoyed the narrower parts of the trail that took you a bit deeper into the trees, over a brook and didn't intersect or join up with the skiers trails.
This is a wonderful family park with Nordic skiing, snow tubing, snow shoe trails, ice skating, warming hut, small cafe. The cafe does not accept credit cards.
Felt like the only people on the trails... on a Saturday! Trails were so fun and varied in difficulty and scenery.
My husband and I Just spent two days cross country skiing here. We had so much fun and were so impressed! We haven't skied at Winter Park for probably ten years...but this is just one of those places that gets better with time. The ski trails were groomed perfectly. There are trails for every ability and even on a busy day you still have the feeling of skiing alone in the woods...we hardly saw any other skiers all afternoon. The warming house is small but comfortable with a wood stove. Food and drink are available but somewhat limited. There is a small skating rink. Snow shoe trails and a tubing hill. A great place to bring a family. Really appreciated that they have family rates and special rates after 2:00. We will definitely be back!
The cross country ski trails have various levels of difficulty that are nicely groomed and beautiful after a new snow. One trail leads to a teahouse that serves cocoa, tea and cookies for free will donations. The ice skating pond is whimsical with free skates for use. The tubing hill is great fun but is only open a couple hours in the morning and a couple hours in the afternoon, and can get quite busy on the weekends. All the staff are friendly welcoming and helpful. Our young children love it here and we can easily spend 2 to 3 days here over the course of our vacation.
Well-marked x-country ski trails for all skill levels. Also tubing hill, snowshoeing and ice skating. Chalet has cafe and ski rental. Staff is friendly and helpful. Chili at the cafe is homemade and a delicious après ski meal.
Great variety of trails from novice to expert. Well groomed. Nice chalet and warming house. They have expanded to offer more options which is great...xc, skijoring, ice rink, tubing, etc....Great family day activities!
The skiing is always good at MWP. They groom frequently to ensure the trails are good. Nice warming house. Friendly staff.
Today we took a wrong turn leaving the park and ended up getting stuck a couple of miles away on a very treacherous road. After my husband and I tried shoveling the car out ourselves and couldn't get anywhere, we called the park. We had our two young children with us and I was getting a little nervous about being out in the cold. The manager from Minocqua Winter Park came and rescued us. He was there in minutes and spent over two hours helping us get back to the main road. We were so thankful for his help. He really went out of his way. PS Don't follow your GPS if it tells you to turn right when you leave the park.
Wonderful 80+ km of cross country trails plus snow shoeing. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Plenty of trail options to choose from -- easy to moderate to expert.
Very nice facility with groomed trails for all levels of skiers. We brought our own equipment, so didn't have to do any rentals with them. There was a charge for the day of skiing, but worth it for the upkeep on their trails.
This is a great place to cross-country ski. They have miles of trails of every difficulty level. You get a map when you check in, and the trails are well marked. The trail grooming machine presses in the two tracks for you, so you don't have to rely on other skiers going before you get there. The snack bar in the chateau was not completely open on my weekday visit, but it had an honor-system cash bucket set out. I did manage to get someone to serve me an on-tap beer from Minocqua Brewing Co.
Visited on a Friday in January and there werent many other visitors. Every trail was rated 5/5, with a very light snow falling. the trails were immaculately groomed and the park sits on a very large parcel of land. Both the snowshoeing and skiing trails are well marked and the Park offers trails for everyone. The rent skis and snowshoes and there is a tubing hill, which would appeal more to children rather than adults. It even has a tow rope for those that struggle with, well, walking uphill I guess ;)Lodge has a small restaurant where you can purchase home made chili and sandwiches, in addition to cookies and hot chocolate or cider.
