puempels olde taverne

We stopped here while waiting for the Swiss Restaurant up the street to open. Both of the bartenders were very nice and told us a little about the history of the bar. There was a group of locals having fun for the Derby. Plus we got to meet a local cheese maker who make an awesome Butterkase(?) cheese! We didn't get to capture any ghosts in our photos or have any strange experiences, but did have fun! Ended up staying longer than we thought we would! Would definitely say stop in to meet some locals and have a beer and a few laughs!

We wanted a light lunch and someone suggested Puempels. Saying the food was good.We ordered the Italian Beef, there was nothing Italian about the beef. It was just sliced roast beef and it was on a hot dog type bun. They served us some Au Jus on the side, but it didn't have anymore flavor than the beef. We were pretty disappointed with our sandwich, so next time will try somewhere else.People were friendly that served us.There are way better places in New Glares to eat than here.

Just stopped in and took a peek. I heard they had a great copper top bar but I only saw wood. Did not stay for a drink or food.
