A friend took me here a few years ago, and it has been my favorite independent bookstore. I try to stop every time I am in Spring Green. It is open, light and airy. The staff recommendations and display tables are excellent. There is also a cafe where you can get coffee, pastries, sandwiches, soups, etc. And for the American Players Theatre going crowd, you can grab ready made salads and sandwiches from the refrigerated cases to take to the picnic area at the theatre.

We visited Arcadia Books for a book reading (the store hosts visits from some wonderful authors!), and while there we had excellent coffee and pastries. Arcadia is light, airy, friendly and peaceful...just perfect for browsing books, savoring coffee, and listening to good stories.

Friendly, informed, well-stocked and lively are key attributes of a good bookstore. Those of a certain age probably remember stores like this - those who don't remember should give it a try.Independent bookstores will always reflect the interests of their owners. This one is obviously owned by someone who believes in a wide range of works, including contemporary fiction and classics, important non-fiction, books on food and travel and everything else that expands the world.The owner was willing to take the time to see if there were books on a particular sub-topic that was of interest to me. He didn't just look on his shelves, but dug deeper to see if the particular topic was even covered in current offerings. That level of service breeds the type of relationship missing on Amazon.We are not close to Spring Green, but close enough to make us want to visit this store again, soon.Oh, did we mention? They also have a delightful café in between the stacks.

Stopped by to find "Loving Frank" written about the soul mate of Frank Lloyd Wright and their relationship. Got it at a bargain price compared to the Taliesin Book Store.They also serve coffee, sandwiches, wine, and other treats.

We stopped in for the cafe and to see if they had wifi. Their coffee was delicious and they kindly rebooted the server so the wifi would work. The bookstore was inviting, and I just had to browse. The cafe served locally roasted coffee and we bought some to take home. We shared a locally made cupcake, all their baked good looked great. They also sell freshly prepared meals which looked so tasty. We'd definitely stop in again on our travels.

Oh what a yummy place! Imagine a chilly, wet, grey night...on the road with no hotel booked till later AFTER the evening play and no place nearby to get a meal. Stopping in to a tranquil store selling wooden items and being advised to visit Arcadia books a block away for a light meal. ARCADIA: Warmth, light, friendliness, hot and tasty veggie food, sweet treats ... and all surrounded by books, glorious books! The staff felt like friends we surely must have known in college days; the adding of more tables as more people found refuge there led us to linger without guilt. The rain cleared but the memory lingered. Rain or shine, do go.

I love this place. They have a varied selection of books - everything from best sellers to "where did this come from?" books. The staff is knowledgeable about the books and you are encouraged to browse. They have a nice selection of sandwiches and soups so it is easy to find yourself spending much more time than anticiapted in Arcadia.

This is what a book store should be. The atmosphere is lovely, the owner and staff incredibly knowledgeable and helpful and the book selection amazing. I am actually not that much of a reader, but love just walking around the store. My daughters, on the other hand, love to read, and can always find something here. They have all of the popular tween books they are looking for and good off the beaten path suggestions that they have also enjoyed. Don't hesitate to ask for a recommendation. Every friend I have brought by from out of town loves the place.
