The course itself is beautiful and the staff is amazing. When we went in the heart of the golf season, we were all very disappointed with the poor, poor quality of the greens and fairways. We could've went to the summit for a fraction of the price and the greens are in the same shape!

If you are looking for a standard, every-day golf course, Mystic Rock may not be for you. If you want a beautiful track with rolling fairways, elevated tee boxes and challenging greens, this could be your place. It isn't tricked up with a lot of blind shots and gotcha pin positions. What you see is what you get, and what you will get is a wonderful experience. Of course, fall is best when the Laurel mountains are full of color for miles around, but above the Mason Dixon line spring and summer are almost as good. The owners have even sprinkled some surprising art throughout the course to catch the eye of the Renaissance golfers. Not inexpensive, if all you are looking for is a place to play golf, but as compared to other courses that have hosted PGA events within the past ten years, still reasonable.

Great golf course, former 84 Lumber Classic PGA event was hosted here for many years. Course has some very challenging holes mixed with some very reasonable holes. Caddie service is excellent and the views are spectacular.

The course was challenging, well groomed with stunning views. The best course I've ever played or seen in person. Loved, Loved, Loved the course. The pro shop - spent too much $$$$$.

Looming forward to the PGA course, only because of weather was the course a bit beaten up. But other than that, grown experience!

This is the better of the two courses at Nemacolin and it is kept in great condition. The scenery is beautiful, the mountains, forest, sculptures, lakes... And there are many memorable holes, including some very challenging par 5's with a lot of water danger. Some blind tee shots and tough approach shots. I played from the whites and it was a good length, allowed me to focus on the challenges of the course and not hitting long irons all day. I read prior to the trip that the final three holes are Pete Dye's favorite closing holes of all of his courses, and I can see why. A beautiful par 5 leading to an island green, a mid length par 3 hugging the water, and a long, uphill, intimidating par 4. Very cool stretch with the huge scoreboard on the back of 18. Some interesting sculptures along the course, including one of Vijay, John Daly, and an interesting abstract sculpture which looks really nice on the course.I used a caddy and found it very helpful to choose target lines on tee shots, avoid trouble, and read putts. Biggest issue was not being able to execute his advise :)

I recently had the chance to play Mystic Rock golf course at the Nemacolin resort in SW Pennsylvania. The countryside is beautiful rolling hills covered with a variety of hardwood trees. Not far away is Frank Lloyd Wright's iconic Fallingwater where he used the native sedimentary rock as his principal building material. Pete Dye obviously must have loved the location because of these natural attributes and he has built a golf course that fits in wonderfully with the landscape.Mystic Rock is a stand alone operation in the midst of the incredibly vast Nemacolin Woodlands Resort. On site is the very upscale Falling Rock inn and the excellent Aqueous restaurant.We were advised to use the services of a forecaddie and it was a very good suggestion as Matt turned out to be as much a golf teacher and caddie than someone who simply went ahead to spot our drives. He helped us enjoy the course much more than we would have without him - particularly the positioning of our tee shots. Since it is a Pete Dye course there are a lot of places where it looks like there is trouble everywhere, when in reality there might be lots of room to land your ball.Mystic Rock hosted a PGA event for six years and it certainly has the length and degree of difficulty to test the pros. However, from the white tees it is a very manageable 6,300 yards.On the first tee there is a statue of Vijah Singh, a former winner here and on the second one of the Squire, Gene Saracen. The fifth hole is one of the nicest par 5's anywhere and is capped off by a lovely waterfall beside the green with a statue of John Daly - a great spot for a photo.The 11th hole is another great par 5 with water down one side and a very small green. It too has an interesting work of art which doubles as a picture frame for the forest and sky behind it.Lest you think Mystic Rock is just about statues and art, it is much more. The par 3's are all uniformly challenging, particularly 12 which requires almost pin point precision to hold the green.The course was in pristine condition despite it being fairly early in the season. There is a practice area worthy of the PGA, a great locker room and the usual aura that goes with a clubhouse where the pros are used to hanging out.Mystic Rock is currently No. 75 on Golf Digest's 100 best public courses in the US and it is easy to understand why. Worth traveling out of your way to play.

The entire course was very plush. The greens are well maintained. Personnel are very friendly and helpful.

Excellent course. Was a treat to play. Prompt service by staff. Treated very well. Super men's locker room and pro shop.

This is a small slope attached to the resort. Not challenging for anyone other than entry level skiiers.

Was really impressed by the country club atmosphere of this facility. The grounds are masterfully kept and the pro-shop has a great selection, pricey and exclusive for both men and women play wear. Great panoramic views, not to be missed during fall. The fairest mountain course I have ever played.

We had an 8am tee time and I thought it was too early and tried to get a later one, but was thankful we didn't get one. They were very busy and backed up. We finished our round in under 4 hours. Weather was perfect and we had the afternoon to relax and get to our spa appointments without being rushed! The course was in excellent condition! If you like to golf, go!

For those having interest in geology and archeology, the caves offer a vast subject of study in depth. The hanging formations made up of varied types of rocks and minerals might have studied though, may be explored. How the nature has preserved these gives a typical feeling of being a part of this universe, not as a separate but connected entity with the Creator.

great layout, fairways and greens excellent, too many resort golfers who don't fix their ball marks, excellent pro shop staff

We played two rounds at Mystic Rock in mid August. The weather was great both days. The course was in great shape with lush fairways and greens.There are some holes with stunning views This is a very challenging course and not for beginners. Our first round we played in less than 4 hours at a good pace. Our second time was over 5 hours due to very slow players. They had a $85.00 special that week that brought out some high-handicappers. Some greens have severe undulations, but rolled true. We will play there again when we're in the area.
