The Drake Tavern is in the heart of Jenkintown. It is a cozy bar scene, with sports on TV and good food. Their burgers are some of the best I've had anywhere. Highly recommend for lunch or for after the movies.

And good food. Great burgers and fries. Salads are fresh but not all that interesting. Outdoor seating summer and winter thanks to heaters and glass enclosure. Waitress wear the short, short, short shorts and scanty tops, therefore I would never take younger family members there although many do. Let's face it, in the end this is a bar first and they are clearly catering to the young twenties to thirties crowd especially on weekend nights. Still, for an earlier dinner or lunch, the food is very good.

This corner of Jenkintown has changed over the years from a tiny hole-in-the-wall hotdog spot to a really good pub with excellent food and a wonderful waitstaff. The burgers are incredibly delicious and the choice of beer wide-ranging. The prices are not cheap like a bar, but not expensive like some of the pretentious places in Center City Philly or the outlying suburbs. I live four blocks away--walking distance and it makes a perfect place to have a burger then walk a half block down to Jenkintown's own vintage movie house. This pub could be all things to all people because not only because it has an open air patio, but this can be expanded by ingenious glass partitions which can be closed in the winter. The Drake started out small and then gradually added these extras--thank goodness. There are large screen televisions all over the place, including out of doors, so sports fans can enjoy the action--even while the pub gets stuck into quiz nights or karaoke. if this isn't to your taste--sitting outside in the solarium or the patio eliminates the annoyance and noise.The Drake is aptly named because the tiny Jenkintown high school mascot is...a drake and the name of the sports teams, are The Drakes. The decor is very English pub on the outside--cheerful and welcoming. We love it--except when there is a deejay and the noise is deafening--but then we can just hop down to the Kings Corner, owned by the same people and that ensures great food.

Never had a bad meal here. The Burgers are the best around. They actually Brand their name on the buns. Go Beer choice, great Staff. Strongly recommend this establishment.

Nice bar and food (fresh and made from scratch) - somehow I've never really got into this place. My wife likes it though.
