Informative for those Christians who want to know more about old testament times. You get a small tour with a speaker that explains step by step the Tabernacle Reproduction.
Well, all in all, I guess it was basically okay. Not a huge fan of religious claptrap. Our visit felt rushed and it also felt like staff was trying too hard to make a good impression, therefore everything they did was given an annoying edge of phoniness.
Seeing the tabernacle in life size gives great perspective to OT Scriptures. Of course, it is not made with gold as the original and cannot really convey the glory of God's design but the tour guide did an excellent job in bringing it all to life, conveying the importance it has to our own understanding and application. The tabernacle is housed in the Mennonite Information Center which has much to offer as well with video presentations of the Amish people way of life giving visitors important foundation for touring the area. They also have a unique gift shop and Mennonite history museum. Be sure to allow plenty of time for this stop.
Realistic presentation of the 'Tabernacle', but was a bit disappointed in the 'quality' of the replica. Lecture was a bit drawn out.
I actually reviewed this under my review of the Mennonite center as well as here. This was build in Florida many years ago by a Baptist minister. When he dies the Mennonites purchase it an moved it to Lancaster where over 30,000 people a year visit it. If you have any familiarity with the Bible you will find this very instructive. I is one thing to read about it and quite another to see the Tabernacle in person. The guide does an excellent job and talks about 3/4 an hour as he show you about it. You should also see the film about the history of the Amish and Mennonites while you are there. I will make it easer to understand the area around Lancaster. There is no effort to convert you, only to inform you.
This replica of the original Tabernacle is well done and well worth the visit. The lady who did the narration was knowledgeable and able to explain the origin, design and purpose of the Tabernacle very well.
for those of you who are interested in Biblical Old Testament history, this is a place you must see. the Tabenacle played a major part in the exodus and early Jewish Worship. the Bible gives a description of it but this reproduction shows you what it looked like. It is accurately reproduced from the biblical description from the outer courtyard to the Holy of Holies complete with the Arc of the Covenant inside.
This was a bible story about Moses . It told his life story. Many actors in the production. Live animals, camels, horses, cows, sheep, birds. They looked well cared for. The ending when Moses parted the Red Sea was amazing. Standing ovation . Well deserved.
Really enjoyed this visit. The guide was excellent and knowledgeable. Very well done and followed the bible descriptions. Had no idea the Amish broke off from the Mennonites. Great shop to buy gifts from around the world. Great people running the operation. Highly recommend.
It's amazing to see the reproduction...sometimes it's difficult to see in your mind's eye what the Bible is describing...so seeing the Tabernacle in real-life was awesome! DEFINITELY recommend to my fellow Christian travelers!
These performances are so spectacular. If you haven't ever gone you are really missing something special. It's a place you can take your family and know that what they will be seeing is very pleasurable and good. They bar no expense in their productions. Great Christmas gift. We gave our son and family one year to go and see Noah. It was so enjoyed by all of them.
This was an unexpected surprise. The short film, and the hour-long lecture were fascinating- the speaker was excellent! Bought some beautiful stuff in the gift shop-pleased to know the money goes to help poor mothers and children.
the people who run the tours ( $8.00 in 2014) do an excellent job at giving history before the tabernacle was built and then the tour of the life size structure itself. They were good at pointing out what was not biblical ( an educated guess was need on a few things). I thoroughly enjoyed it.
this was at Sight And Sound, i like the live animals and the computer generated prop. and it was bases on the bible.
We did this as a "something to do" - not really part of the planned trip. Brings the story of the Israelites wandering and exactly what the Tabernacle looks like. In awe; helped me realize exactly what IS important to God.
