My fiance and I had one night to get away and we decided to stay at the Casino hotel. The hotel and hotel staff were wonderful. However, overnight someone caused a lot of damage to our car ($2,000 of damage), parked in the self parking lot. It was impossible to get the Casino security department to help with us. They informed us that the self parking lot is not their responsibility. They refused to take a report of the incident. They refused to contact local police until we complained bitterly. They refused to disclose if they have cameras in the parking lot, and refused to proactively check any footage (which would have been hard as they never asked us where the car was parked). We complained and hotel guest relations at first seemed not to understand the problem. Their assistant manager even suggested that my concern was that hotel security was not empathetic to our problem. After I explained our concerns they were more receptive, although we have never heard back from them. Our problem was that no one seemed to care that a crime (leaving the scene of an accident) had taken place on Mohegan Sun property. No one seemed to care that Security was disinterested in securing the facility and was only interested in avoiding liability for an incident in the Self parking lot. No one seemed to care that guests in the Self parking lot, coming to the casino with valuables in their pockets are only secured by the Plains Township , PA Police department who were very nice, but according to the internet seem to have 11 officers. To be fair, the hotel offered us a free night, and offered to discuss the security issues at their next management meeting. I was assured they would call me back and tell me what was discussed, but I have not heard from them.We are truly amazed at the Security situation at Mohegan Sun Pocono Downs. If you go be aware you are on your own in the Self parking lot.
Everyone's review varies based on their experience of course. While usually reviews give you an overall views, some are specific based on what happened. In my case, i will give you the view of both, though the rating is definitely based on the negativity i experienced. I am a regular at AC and other casino's in PA, but usually without kids. This trip was with friends and kids.Initial thoughts: Free parking is good. Check-in is quick and efficient. Rooms is nice, clean, and modern.Casino floor- everything in a circle. Half smoking section and half non-smoking. The casino floor is not big and the poker room is surprisingly a walk. Staff is nice, though had a challenge of motivating them to crack jokes and be excited about working/playing with us. What can i say, its fun to sit with strangers and crack jokes. Poker dealers were good at that though. What went wrong:Dinner - Went to Bar Louie. Nice place, decent food overall. However, we got there at 8:45. Food got to us at 9:20. At 9:30 a staff member stopped by and told us that no kids are allowed to be in restaurant when the live music starts playing, which is around 9:45 pm. They should have told us that before we placed any orders. $500 later and 20 min later we had to sprint out of there.Night - As luck would have it, we had an orgy going on next room to ours. I was gambling when my wife called me and said that there are like 10 people next door partying and etc. That was at 2 am. It took multiple calls and me talking to pit boss twice to get someone to that room an hour later. I came up to the room at 3:40 am and the next door, though not a party, loud conversation and noise was still taking place. Another call to front desk and finally just after 5 am things got quiet. To summarize this. The walls are paper thin and if you have semi-loud neighbors, you will hear everything. The staff didn't do much and in the morning after talking to more people they didn't feel that they should provide a credit for such a bad experience. 5 days of calling and talking to front desk, guest relations, they just stop talking to you or calling you back. I asked for one thing from them, a written notice of my complaint and they just disappeared. This was my first time here. And even with restaurant incident that i was kinda ok with, i actually liked the place. However, how they treat their guests and their lack of any proper response, this was my last time here. If you have any value as a consumer, you should stay away as well.
Great casino: they have a seperate section of table games and slots for NON Smokers! And a big section at that. The regular smoking section has all the usual fare of table games. The casino floor is quite large, and not cramped. As you would expect, the staff is very friendly and helpful ( this was our first visit-a group of 5). The gamimg floor is well lit, but you don't need sunglasses. We live about 120 miles from casino, and about 150 miles from Atlantic City - which we frequent. We will return here because of the no smoking table game and slot area.
Went there for the first time. Had a really fun time. So happy they separate the smokers from the non-smoker!!! The bar in the middle was super short staffed and not really caring if you had to wait so long. It is kind of annoying if you don't have a seat and have to just stand there and hope to catch there attention. The penny non-smoking room was great! The draft beers are free with a player card but you gotta kind of tell them that's what you want. The player card desk person was super friendly.
Gambling was ok, but honestly it would really be nice if there were non-smoking casinos. It's a total turn-off to those who don't want to come out smelling like crap. Went there for dinner at Rustic Kitchen, gambling was just a side note. I would have played more but it made me sick to my stomach. Just not worth it. Don't waste your time on valet parking people. There is plenty of parking for a short walk. The line for valet parking was so long with people sitting in there cars waiting that they could have parked, gambled, and had a drink by the time they got up to the valet.
I'm not the gambling type, but the Mohegan Sun was a large place, with nice restaurants and upscale shops. The house gave me a card free for 10.00 play which I went to penny slots and won 6.00
This was the worst buffet we ever had . We have eaten here before , but it's really gone down hill . This was the last time I will eat here !! The prime rib is some kind of meat that you can't cut or chew, mashed potatoes are instant , carrots are hard , baked potato has to be left over from another day they are dried up inside and are not edible , actually all the food served is not edible !! It's not worth the cost . The staff tonight was awful. We came back to our table and the plates were not removed, but 5 feet away from our table were 4 waiters standing and talking !!!The topper was we asked for coffee by the time we received it we were done after just one bite of dried up pie, we added the creamer to our coffee and it curdled !!! We walked out. Awful awful awful
They have great food their plus an awesome comedy club that is a must go. At the casino you have a choice on many different types of food. You can have an elegant dinner or just sit down at a bar and have a good meal. The staff is very helpful and friendly.
Beautiful building and grounds. Great restaurants ranging from good price ranges to one elite. The works are the friendlest around and someone is always available for any kind of assistance you may need.
Spent valentines weekend at mohegan pa first the restaurants are horrible bar Louis should be ashamed of itself 1 1/2 hr wait to be asked if we would like a drink food took another hr no apologies I ordered chicken satay in lettuce cups well they brought me a rotted chunk of lettuce with a cup of mush no chicken in it ....just awful. The casino while you gamble charges you for drinks and the buffet was filthy and the food tasted like dirty water. Come on mohegan visit ct...I will never be back
We have been going here for a few months now and yes we always have a great time. We end up losing, but we figure if we do win something than that is a plus. Waitresses are always coming around for drink orders and are always friendly. Bathroom facilities and other areas are well maintained. Yes, I do have to agree with some about the smoking, but it is more the people and how they mistreat the policy. I have seen people in areas smoking and they shouldn't be, in defense of the staff, they can not see everything. We will continue going back and as always have a great time...
It's a beautiful facility with so much to offer under one roof. Great food, great drinks, gambling with professional dealers. It's a great spot and we're so lucky to have it close by. There's even shopping!
Went here last night on 2/13. Parking spaces were packed, people were just making up their own spots along the road. Now, I live somewhat close but I don't go here because the first time I went was when they just had opened and I was not very impressed. This time was no different. Payouts on the machines SUCKED and by sucked I mean they will just suck down your money and give you little to nothing in return. You're better off just walking in, laying all your cash on their floor and walking out. The tables are the only things worth playing here and really your best bet at making a profit. I would avoid this place if you are going to play slots. The machines are really bad, most of them are the same exact style machines with different max bets. I walked around a lot for hours and didn't see anyone hit big on anything, I didn't even see many small payouts. Most people were walking around without much expression, you could tell not many were really happy.I walked out feeling used. I wont visit here again unless I am going to play the tables.
I traveled down all the way from upstate New York. I would go a couple of times a month and spend the night. The hotel is very nice and rooms are beautiful. But as for the casino, I could not believe the way I was treated. I started playing Spanish 21 and because I was new to the game and didn't take a "hit" another player became upset and started cursing at me causing a scene which caused the pit boss "Gene" to come over. I told him the guy was bullying me and swearing at me. The pit boss told me to grow up and then the player started using profanity towards me and called me a not so nice word right in front of the pit boss and he did nothing about it.All the other players couldn't believe what just happened. The player was obviously friendly with the staff cause he knew them all by name. I was then advised I wasn't allowed to be served cause i was intoxicated. ( i didn't even order a drink nor was I intoxicated) The other players even told the pit boss that I did nothing wrong and that the other guy was way out of line. I was escorted out by security. Keep in mind at no time did I raise my voice or even look at the other player who was cursing and using profanity towards me. The other guy was allowed to keep playing. I guess cause he was betting more then me and was buddy buddy with "Gene" the pit boss. I guess "Gene" didn't see nothing wrong with a guy using profanity and obscene language toward other guest.
As I am in Altanic City nj at least two nights a month, I thought I would enjoy a change as I was staying at The Woodlads Inn and some comp dollars were part of the package from them.Casino was full of smoke , noise level was over the top.A waitress approached us , would we like a drink, we ordered two , then she said that's 12 dollars, quite different the Ac where if you are playing a slot drinks are free.We figured we would try the buffett, can't begin to tell you how bad it was, dirty, food was not replenished, a complete waste of 50 dollars. We stopped to eat at hotel when we got back to it.Over all can say been there done that but never again.
