Re writing a review because my opinion has changed since 2012. We visit a few times a year and we LOVE the food here. I wish it wasn't so out of our way I think we would visit more. The grilled cheese and creamy tomato soup is my favorite. Love the look of the place and love sitting out by the firepit in the fall. My only complaint is that it's very loud inside and hard to hear people especially when we have a larger group but that's just because of the way the room is designed nothing can really be done about that. Drinks are a tad overpriced for what you get but not to bad. But again, delicious food and typical prices to other restaurants in the area.
The food here is fantastic, not your average pub food. We had an appetizer of lobster mac and cheese (suggested by our waitress Emily) and it was great. The portion size of this appetizer was large enough for a meal. We took some of it with us and it even heated up good. Our waitress Emily was new there but really knew what she was doing. Very familiar with the menu and a great waitress. She was so friendly and even brought us a slice of the most wonderful cake with a candle to help us celebrate. She was even nice enough to take our picture with it. The only down side is the acoustics aren't great. It does get a little loud in there, but the atmosphere, the scenic surroundings, the food and staff more than make up for that. They made our 33rd Anniversary one that we will remember.
This was our first trip and we both enjoyed our visit. We arrived on a sat. around 7 and we're told 1 hour until a table would be ready . We were in no rush so we did wait but many people did turn and walk away. The wait was only about 40 minutes. Our waitress was Sara and she was very good. She new the menu and answered questions. Food was served timely and hot. Prices are fair for a nice place. I like to think part of the meal price is the atmosphere. If you want cheap and fast with screaming kids running around go to a dinner. Everyone is dressed causal. Quick note for the ladies is to bring a sweater . The doors open wide and let fresh air in but the evenings get cool , plus ceiling fans are blowing down.
One of the more classier places in reading. The decor is very nice and befitting the castle that its in. I gave this only three stars because when i was here i had an unpleasant experience with the staff being somewhat rude and the prices being so high for a limited menu (drinks included) and the small portions served. All that said its a nice place to dress up and have a nice dinner.
This pub is a hidden gem (part of Stokesay Castle) in Reading, PA recommended by friends. The burgers are amazing and the ambience is incredible. The pub vibe is cool and inviting, we forgot we were in Reading! Unfortunately, the weather was a bit too cold to sit outside (they have a firepit) but the view was amazing. We sat at the bar for drinks before we were seated and our bartender was engaging and personable. The GM, Luis Pereira was most gracious and accommodating. This is most definitely a go to place. The Knight's Pub is a great addition to the Reading scene.
