We visited Glades Pike on a snowy cold Saturday afternoon but the atmosphere inside was warm and inviting! We should of known it was the place to be when we pulled up and saw a gang of about 20 snowmobiles parked outside!!The wines/food and great afternoon acoustic music helped make our rendezvous with our daughter and her boyfriend who traveled from Reading PA and us from Ohio to meet in the middle so to speak a great kick off to our weekend!Thank you for your hospitality!!Highly recommend as a must stop in the Somerset/Laurel Highlands area!!
They have a lot of wines to try, but also some very delicious chocolate wine drops - a burst of their cherry wine or raspberry wine inside, delicious!!! They also have accessories and wine bottle openers, decorations, wine shirts, bottle stoppers and more! Also a great place to host a party or a wedding!
We stopped at Glades Pike Winery in Somerset on our way to Rocky Gap Casino & Resort in Flintstone, MD. The staff was very friendly and even gave us a PA map of all wineries. It's nice when you are at one winery and they suggest other wineries nearby. I am mostly a dry red wine drinker, but I actually purchased a bottle of their Riesling which is a semi-dry white, and I purchased a bottle of their Petit Verdot which was a very nice dry red. They gave us five tastings at no charge. I look forward to going back in the summer. It looks like a pretty area to have a glass of wine and sit outside on their deck.
We were first time visitors to the winery, having traveled two hours to visit the Flight 93 Memorial on my Mom's birthday. I'd found the Winery listed on Trip Advisor, and traveled to their website where I saw that our visit coincided with a customer appreciation open house...Yippee! The parking lot was packed when we arrived, but there was no wait at the tasting bar, where the sampling was free. We bought a few bottles to take home and a single glass of Norton, a nice dry red to share with my husband (remember, driving). We then went to the banquet room where we relaxed and enjoyed the live music, catered hot and cold hors d'oeuvres and desserts, and a complimentary back massage for my Mom. When in the area we will certainly stop in again. There was a small refrigerator with cheeses and snacks available for purchase on non event days. The banquet room would be a great place for an anniversary party or wedding reception. There was an inviting deck with tables and pretty views out the windows. Thanks for the hospitality!
We went here for a tasting to kill some time on a recent visit to Seven Springs. We hadn't been here in around 15 years, so we know the wines would be different. Imagine our surprise to find out the tasting was free AND that we could taste as many wines as we wanted to! (FABULOUS!) Our staff person (forgot his name) was terrific. He explained the wines when we wanted him to, but didn't go into ramparts about each and every one. (We hate when they do that, btw.) Terrific time…beautiful scenery. Oh, and by the way, we wound up buying a few bottles, too. Can't wait to dig in.
While staying at Seven Springs we decided to give this winery a try, since it's only a quick, 15 minute ride from the resort. We walked in and were instantly greeted and advised how they offer wine tastings and provided with a menu of wines. They have quite a large selection, broken up in various categories from dry to dessert wines.Their dry wines are nice and their off-dry are less than 1/2% residual sugar and tasted very well for those of us who prefer dry. Prices are standard. They do have a nice selection of locally made sauces, cheeses, salami, etc, all at a great price. We spent a while here enjoying everything we bought, to include wine, a couple of cheeses and salami, which they prepared for us, very nicely. They definitely exceeded our expectations with great customer service and suggestions. We liked it so much, we went back a couple days later and brought friends.
My wife and myself visit alot of wineries. This place is very special. The wine is very good. It is very comfortable and they make it that way. No sales pressure. The outside deck is really comfortable. Great job..
Stopped by for a tasting on our recent visit to the area. Enjoyed the wine, but felt very rushed and hurried in our experience.
What is interesting to us is that every wine maker has a different method of creating their wine. Your Cabs, Chardonnay, and Merlots all taste differently. Each wine maker does something unique. Here the wine that we tried was all pretty good. Free Wine tasting no fees, which is always a plus. The location is in the mountains in Somerset with a deck wrapped around the building allowing you to sit and view the grapes and drink wine. Recommend checking out this charming winery.
We took a Mclwain's bus to Glades Pike Winery on Sunday. They were very receptive to the 27 people that came walking in all together. They were very generous with the tasting and filling of glasses. We will be back. The Black & Blue wine was my favorite !!!
Stopped on the way home from a road trip because we were tired of being on the turnpike. It took us about 20 minutes after getting off the turnpike to get to the winery. It was easy to find, clean and inviting. We enjoyed a free tasting and brought home a few bottles. The staff member was a little on the quiet side, but very polite and accommodating. Would definitely stop back if I was in the area!
Glades Pikes has a wonderfully friendly staff that will make you feel very welcome. Had my wedding reception here and they were excellent to work with and provided us everything we need. Nice tasting room and enjoyable atmosphere.
I have been going to the Glades Pike Winery for years. I started coming here by myself and then started bringing members of my family and friends from work. Each time is better than the last. The staff is wonderful and the wine is superb. They have grown over the years and added subtle changes in their decor and have even added some munchies such as cheese and shrimp trays. When they have music there it is a very relaxing and enjoyable experience. They have tables and chairs outside on the deck where you can relax and enjoy the scenery. I've also been there when they have had wedding functions and it is absolutely beautiful. The gazebo near the vineyard is a very picturesque and beautiful spot for those special wedding day photos. You definitely can't go wrong when you come here.Mary Ann M.
Glades Puke Wibery has the best award winning wine in the area. You can taste the wine and see for yourself. I like the Bicentenial Blush the best. It is semi sweet but there is sweet wine and dry to choose from too. The staff is very pleasant and helpful too. If you would like to have a special event there you can rent the area at attached to the winery. Beautiful view for a wedding reception.
Enjoyed the dry red wines they offered, but wished the server was more knowledgable about the wines. But, the server was still attentive and we bought a few bottles of wine. It's located in a pretty open area, so the patio is a bit hot for lingering with a glass of wine and there are really no places to sit inside. The tasting room has a few gift items and their bottles of wine. Tastings are $1 per selection. With little to do and no good place to sit, there isn't much reason to linger, so we tasted, bought a few bottles and headed for our hotel.
