We came to Kooser to stay at a rustic cabin for two nights for a romantic getaway. The cabin we stayed at was beautiful. The cabins are rustic there so they don't have a shower or a bathroom but they do have a general heated facility with showers and bathrooms. The cabin it self had all the normal appliances (stove, microwave, refrigerator, and a sink with hot and cold water). The best part is the fire place which is nice but the only source of heat above 50 degrees because the cabins have electric heat but only set to 50 degrees. We will be gong back in the future.

Pennsylvania has some of the prettiest parks in the country and this park which is very close to Hidden Valley Four Seasons Resort is really pretty. You can fish, lounge and grill at this park all day

We both used to go here alot as kids. As adults we go a good bit less but still like it. Stop by and have a picnic. Maybe throw the line in and relax.

We took the kids there to run, jump, scream, fish and picnic. They enjoyed the entire day and fell asleep in the car on the way back home.

We live about 45 min from this state park. Usually on weekends we are looking for a cheap way to get out and spend a few days together. We love this park. Yes, it is tiny, but that way it stays very clean & well maintained. The bathrooms and showers are always very nice and well kept. The showers have real locking doors so you don't have to be to self conscious about someone catching a glimpse of you. The play area for the kids is amazing. There is a big field with swings, sand, little bucket diggers, and lots of room to run. My daughter loves this area. They also have a nice little lake to fish in! Camp hosts are always over the top and stop to greet you and ask how your trip is going. There is plenty to do in the area and you definitely won't be disappointed! Just to let you in on a little secret. We drove 4 hours to stay at Sinnemahoning State Park, just to try something new. Well, we were totally saddened by what we seen there. Dirty bathrooms, crowded spaces, not a store for 30 miles. We modified our reservations, and actually drove 4 hours back home to spend our 2 nights at Kooser. At least here we know we will get our money's worth and have a great time!!

This is a small campground with ~30 sites. We stayed in one of the 4 full hook up sites. Full hook up was a huge convenience, but these sites are very close together. The non full hook up sites were much more spacious. The showers and bathrooms were very clean with two showers and three bathroom stalls. The lake is nice for fishing and the playground is good for kids. There are two trails within the park, but the good hiking is a few miles away at laurel hill state park. Was perfect for a simple family getaway.

I had a cabin with a sink, a fridge and a stove/range/broiler and microwave. And I had to walk 1500 feet to the shower house. The mattresses are thin plastic things I used to lay on top of my kid's changing table. We caught a mouse the first 10 minutes of being inside the cabin. You are CAMPING. This is not about staying clean and being pampered. Got it?So, you're warm in the night. There's a camp stove if you need it, and the nature around you is gorgeous! There are spots in this park the GPS can't find, and that's just what you need if you're trying to get away.I stayed here with about 50 relatives (in our own respective cabins!) and the kids loved it. The elders loved it. We roasted marshmallows. We fished. We ran around and around, and it was AWESOME! Leave your nice clothes and cute shoes at home. Or go up the road to 7 Springs for that. This is mud and dirt and bugs and mice and peace, quiet, solitude and beautiful night time skies.

The surrounding woods and trails are nice to walk through. There's a stream in the middle of everything and you feel like you're making contact with nature. But the last time we were there (8/14) the lake was closed down. The last several times we were there....the lake was closed down. With the event of brain eating amoeba's these days, I would be concerned for my kids. But if you want to walk the woods surrounding the lake or maybe fish (what about the dirty water?)....it may be fine.

This place is a good place to swim, fish and hang out for the day to meet new people period. This is a good place to throw frisbee or play horseshoes.

We met family here for a camping weekend. The camping loop is well shaded with nice grassy (manicured lawn and garden bed) areas. The camping pads themselves vary widely in size and quality--some are quite level--others not level at all. There are some low lying areas and it is situated near the creek so when it's rainy (as it was during our stay) expect things to get quite muddy. The bath house was first-rate--very clean, extraordinarily spacious and well-appointed. The most private showers I've seen at a public camp ground. The staff was quite friendly and unobtrusive. Not a lot of campground amenities/services but a few family and kid events, and Sunday chapel services--there are also plenty of nearby grocery stores and eateries and the adorable village of Somerset is close. The only drawback that comes to mind to be especially aware of--is the loop's proximity to a main road. You drive back into the woods quite a ways to get to the camping loop, but that drive actually brings you out parallel to a busy route where during the day auto traffic is audible...night time was perfectly quiet (at least for us) but if you're looking for absolute seclusion or silence, the road does prevent that.
