This is a fantastic example of community involvement and community commitment. The short version is that this was an abandoned wreck of a facility, and it is now one of the jewels of Manistee's downtown. The community decided that they would completely renovate this theater and operate it for the benefit of residents and guests --- and it has been a great success. (By the way, keep your eyes open for the video clip before the start of the feature film, which shows the full extent of the renovations.)The entire interior of the theater was renovated, and it is now a state-of-the-art cinema. The seats are all new and very comfortable. The theater shows first-run movies. And, the concession stand sells delicious snacks at a small fraction of the price charged elsewhere. How is this possible? Simple! The theater is operated by community volunteers, who are committed to saving this architectural beauty, and committed to having a movie theater in their town. So, when buying your tickets and snacks, consider thanking the people who are working in the theater for their contribution to making The Vogue a success.
The vogue is "in Vogue" with the community business's and town fathers to see the need to wake up and restore a beautiful relic for the 30's . Today this refurbished entertainment venue has a state of the art sound and projection system equal to the Big Guys. The nice things is all the staff are townfolks volunteering their time and energies ! and as a result one can have a night out on the town without mortgaging their 1st born. Job well done citizens of Manistee !
Went to see Malificent with mom over the July 4th holiday and was floored by the new look Vogue! So much hard work was put in by all the folks as they totally remade this cherished Manistee institution; I look forward to seeing many more movies there.
Very Happy the Vogue Theatre is up an running! Convenient to see new movie releases while vacationing. Remarkable history here along with sense of community. Pricing + Popcorn smart.
Came here for a movie on a Thursday afternoon (5pm). Not busy at all. Newly renovated, the seats are comfy and the sound system is great. I didn't get the popcorn, just a tea. If you are in town, not a bad way to spend a few hours.
It was wonderful. They did a wonderful job restoring the movie theatre. Have been there 4 times. On Wednesday morning, old classics are shown for $2.00.
What a great renovation of a historic theater. Let alone that it is the only theater in Manistee. The town of Manistee should be proud of their downtown renewal.
After much work and fund raising, this theater showing first-run films has really caught on with both the locals and visitors. Very reasonable prices for tickets and refreshments, comfortable seating, and a management willing to promote and participate in local events.
Went to see the movie "Chef" at the Vogue Theatre last night. What a wonderful spot in Manistee! I had heard it had been redone recently and the results are first-class. The theater room we were in had very comfortable new seating, great sound, super picture. Everyone working there was friendly, eager to please, and rightly proud of the theater. A very well done picture slide show is shown before the previews, detailing the work that went into the Vogue restoration. Impressive. Well done Manistee!
The best place to see both the best new-releases and the classics! Friendly staff, great prices, and clean facilities make this a great hang-out. Can't wait to see where things go from here!
The Vogue Theater has recently gone thru a total restoration process and the result is spectacular. The new seats are very comfortable and the theater itself is beautiful and well done. They are still finishing a few details inside, but the renovation is 98 percent complete. Modeled after the very successful volunteer driven State Theater in Traverse City, the Vogue is reasonably priced with popcorn and candy well below typical big box theater prices. The sound is excellent, although a bit loud for my tastes. We have now gone on three occasions and have enjoyed every show immensely. This is a terrific opportunity to support the local community, enjoy a great show and not feel like your fleeced on the way home. Bravo Manistee!
