This was my first political convention. Only on state level but some drama nevertheless. Site is perfectly designed for such an event. Catering better than I had expected. Parking nearby and easy. Vwill add pictures.
The Lansing Center hosted the "Women's Expo" last weekend (Feb. 6-8), showcasing food, art, clothing, health, and fitness. A very good venue for a good show!
Very attractive, new, and well-laid out for meetings and conferences. Walkways to hotel and parking are very convenient. catered food better than average. Nice setting on the river. Downtown Lansing is really quiet though.
Always a great venue for events, big or small. Have been to many conferences and events here and the facilities are always well kept, nice restrooms, very large meeting spaces. And the gentleman with the candied pecans in the afternoon is always a hit! :)
We have a conference we run for 500 people every other year. 2015 will be our 4th time there. We have decided to keep our conference there permanently. They have strong attention to detail, ample parking, training rooms with great set ups and equipment. They are located next to the Raddison hotel and connected by a walkway making access perfect. Our vendors and attendees love the layout and amenities. Food is good a bit pricey but not out of line with other facilities. Gus Pine and his staff work very hard. GLEUS is our organization, we are an electric utility trade show.
Lansing used to have a beautiful old civic center that was torn down. I agree with another reviewer, the old civic center had many fine concerts with well known national performers. This new civic center, which incidentally looks and feels like a gigantic cracker box sitting along side the Grand River is nothing special. There is not enough parking, the events that are held there are all overpriced. A case in point is the annual Golf show. When I started attending many years ago, it was thriving. It has since dwindled down to a mediocre event that only takes up a quarter of the space it used to utilize consisting of a bunch of third tier golf item resellers. I finally quit going. Apparently Lansing leadership has no concept of the history of Lansing and absolutely no love for older architecture. They trashed the old historic civic center for this monstrosity, then demolished the historic city market next to it, replacing it with a gigantic pole barn that is equally ugly. They are currently trying to spruce things up by attempting to get a casino built on the end of the civic center. If it weren't for the baseball stadium across the street, there would be no reason to ever go downtown.
Lansing center is a new, modern, well located center of events. Lots of bar and restaurants around, the fresh market is a short walking distance and has excellent infrastructure. I attend the Sola13 Conference there and we were 3000 people and everything occurred fine! Awesome 2 days spent there!
nice place to hold events. but its extremely expensive. Even to get into anything. Bridal shows, swap meets, golf expo, any expo. and the money used to go towards your purchase but not any more. and kids have to pay to. so silly. Then don't even hold events that pertain to children.
Very clean, well staffed, elevators/escalators all in working order. Only complaint, parking was a bear.
had to assist at the gift show Sunday March 3rd. A very small building that is showing its age. The staff was great. Had assistance from the dock that delivered fixtures to the booth we worked. People were friendly and supportive to our needs. Lighting could have been better and carpet needs replaced.
I wish someone would grow a pair and start having REAL music acts come to Lansing again, like the old Civic Center. It used to be an awesome thing to see an live show and not have to drive 80 miles in either direction.WTF Lansing.
This center is fine, good locale, just nothing really remarkable. Parking is a problem--center parking requires cash. Other parking at a distance.
This is a very well kept convention center. Great for events of any size. It's union run though so don't expect cheap wifi. They also don't allow outside food. Only food within the center is a crappy hole in the wall. Serves your typical greasy food, pizza, burgers etc. It's expensive and not worth it. Customer service staff is great however, cleaning staff and food staff were caught talking poorly about conference attendees.
I was fortunate enough to attend an outdoor dining experience after years of seeing events going on and wishing I could... I was so impressed with the quality of the food, the cleanliness of the tables and food area and the waitstaff's attention to every attendees needs. It was a beautiful experience. The mac-n-cheese was so good; my mom would have been a little jealous! The meal was co-sponsored, so between the Radisson Hotel and Lansing Center...you all really put on an excellent meal and dining experience overall - THANK YOU, Thank You, thank you
Hey, a conference center is a conference center. It works pretty well for what it is and is not a bad spot for a conference. I wouldn't be sending pictures home....
