My high school friends and I had a wonderful and a little spooky time on this tour. the information about the hauntings was really interesting. I did not see and ghosts but really enjoyed the tour. you are taken to an old cemetery and given a divining rod to detect spirits. I'm not sure if I detected anything, but my friend who is a master gardener was guided by the spirits from flowering bush to flowering bush.
This tour is great! This is the second time I have been on this tour, and I think there was only one story that was duplicated from the 1st time. All of the stories are very interesting. The tour takes you around Hannibal and they share different stories at each location. At the end you go to a cemetery and they give you dowsing rods to find some spirits! I think everyone should take this tour at least once, you won't be disappointed. The tour guides are fantastic!
We didn't have a paranormal experience but it was a fun tour. The tour guide was great. It is neat that you get to walk around the old cemetery.
Lisa and Mark do a fantastic job on this tour. They have a lot of knowledge about haunted places and make the tour exciting. The best place to see a lot of the sites is on the left side of the trolley. Also bring a jacket and something hot to drink. The trolley is closed in, but it is still cold. The best part is going to the cemetery and checking for "spirits". Whether you believe or not, walking through a cemetery at night, with only a flashlight is an experience you won't soon forget.
Went to Hannibal specifically to do this tour, and was not disappointed. The tour guide was very enthusiastic, and all of the stories were interesting. They go all over Hannibal and you learn so much history along the way. Our favorite part was the end when they stop at the cemetery, and they give you dowsing rods. When it was over, they took us back to the museum and we were able to look around at a couple of items mentioned during the tour. They were more than happy to answer more questions about the stories and town, and you could just see how much they enjoyed talking about everything. Highly recommended taking this tour, and will do it again when I go back to Hannibal.
My family First took the tour back in 2010 ,My daughter would have been 12 then .We all Loved it. The Mark`s made us fall in love w Hannibal`s History! My daughter has talked about going back non stop ,so on a whim we drove there yesterday! Delighted to see that Haunted Hannibal and Historic Tours was not only still there ,but also now had a Museum! We got there at 3pm and found that by the time we got done looking around museum and talking it was nearly 6:30pm .We popped over to The coffee shop across the street and had a quick sandwich and a cocoa and We were ready to go for tour.I was so delighted that new info and places were added to the tour and some of our favorites were still on it! Lisa and Ken Marks ,Bring Hannibal back to life and make you want to learn as much as you can about the history and keep coming back time and again. Also while on the tour ,as you stop out in front of LaBinnah Bistro,(aka Captain Mungers home)Lisa ,states if you are hungry and wanting to grab dinner after the tour she will phone the owner and ask them to stay open late! also as you get the history on the Garden House B&B (aka best place to sleep w a ghost) that if you are in need of lodging,Lisa would be happy to phone the owner! You will not find this type of Hospitality and Historical Knowledge any where else! This couple makes you feel like you are at home.Don`t miss this tour ! Start your trip with the tour! Heading back this weekend for autumn festival.Adding pics of us at Old Baptist Cemetery !
We recently went on 2 tours with this group, one of the Haunted Hannibal Tour in the evening at 7 p.m., and one of the Wicked Hannibal Tour at 6 p.m. Both were quite interesting tours. The Wicked Hannibal tour is a walking tour and rated PG-13, but only because they talk about places of prostitution and bootlegging. The walk is certainly not strenuous, and the tour guide was pleasant and encouraged questions, and was very enthusiastic about her subjects. They were most accommodating to us, as we had another tour at 7 p.m., and made sure that we were back in time to catch this second tour. The Haunted Hannibal Tour was on a converted trolley, and the windows to this had been placed in the trolley to make it warmer, although it was still a bit chilly in the conveyance. The stories that the owners told were interesting and macabre. We even bought one of the books that they wrote about the area, they were that interesting. The stories they tell are well worth the time and money invested if you like a bit of fun.
Had a really great ghost tour. It was so much fun. Sam our guide was hilarious and made it so much fun and entertaining. The wicked tour was also really fun. I never knew Hannibal had such a dark history way back in the in the pioneer days. It was also very interesting hearing all the stories about Samuel Clemens. Would do the tours again, as long as I could have Sam as a guide.
As part of our romantic weekend getaway, my fiancée and I were really looking forward to taking this tour. We read the reviews on this site and hoped that it would be as good as it was suggested. It did not disappoint! We purchased our tickets (about the same price as a movie ticket) and were led on a delightful and fun tour of Hannibal that had great historical value as well. We were happy to be in the 9pm tour as we thought it would weed out families with small children. Unfortunately, there is always that one parent who thinks that a four year old at 9pm on a ghost tour is a good idea. The whiney kid coupled with an equally loud talking dad made it difficult to hear Lisa, our tour guide, at times but that was not her fault. We were driven around town in a partial open air trolley so if you are going during cooler temperatures, dress accordingly. Lisa gave the tour with historical facts laced with the supernatural versus made up campfire ghost stories designed to scare. The tour was engaging and interactive with multiple stops at various points. Our final stop was at a cemetery where we were given divining rods and flashlights to explore with. Lisa gave a brief demonstration on how to use the rods along with a sincere reminder that it was a cemetery and to respect the departed. We did have the experience that we were hoping to have and were not disappointed! Overall, this is a must do for everyone who visits Hannibal. I would recommend that parents with children under the age of ten not bring them on this tour simply for their own enjoyment as well as other tourists. Also, the pick up and drop off location is near two bars and the party was in full swing when we returned. Subsequently, a fight had broken out on the sidewalk in front and Lisa had to disperse the crowd so we could unload. The kids on the tour heard some colorful language but we were assured that this is not a frequent occurrence. We will take this tour again with our 20 year old!
For any of us still basking in Mark Twain's writings, the site of Hannibal on the Mississippi River conjures up images, and memories. The Riverboats, Becky's childhood home, Twain's childhood home and best of all......those graveyards and hauntings. The tour does well on many fronts, as the guides are quite amiable and informative, with the sites along the way actually quite provocative. Ghosts or not, this is an exploration of that other realm that provokes feelings that most of us don't commonly experience.
We were very happy with this tour! The guides were very knowledgeable and gave the "backside" story of the town! It is very interesting regardless if you experience anything or not! We will be doing this again when we come back!
be ready to enjoy yourself! This is a family-friendly tour with only a couple of "cover your ears, kids" stories (for the more sensitive ones) that was delivered with gusto! Lisa and Ken made a special effort to accommodate some late arrivers while not short-changing those of us who arrived the requested 10-minutes early. The vibe, for me, of this tour was of two local folks, extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic, enjoying themselves while sharing the treasures of their town. It was great!
This was great first we all got aboard a bus with the sides cut out for viewing, then we were off to a number of haunted locations in Hannibal, the tour guide was great she gave us a lengthy history of each place and a ghost story that was recently seen on her tours, then at the end we got off to go to a haunted cemetery at night, oooohhh this was the best although creepy you have to take this tour, she stops at several locations, the local Jail, the local Library, a Church, and even a Bed n Breakfast that is haunted. The Church still has Gargoyle statues on top of it like in the old days. this is a must see attraction.
Ellen, we apologize but we think there has been a misunderstanding -- we never simply decide not to do a tour, but sometimes circumstances arise and a tour must be canceled. There are only three reasons we would cancel a tour: severe inclement weather such as lightning, transportation issues such as a mechanical problem with our vehicle, or we do not have a tour guide available. We are sorry to disappoint you and hope that you'll have a chance to visit us again and take the tour in the future.
