Great display of historical artifacts. The building is in need of some repair, but then again what building that dates back to the civil war doesn't.
The Old Stagecoach Stop is an excellent place to visit if you like history. Each room is set up to show a different important time in history. It is run completely by volunteers. They have done a fabulous job of maintaining this old building and telling the stories behind each era. There are no public bathrooms and it is a two story building - so if you are bringing a stroller, plan on leaving it on the front porch.
My 4th grade class and I truly loved this field trip! Jan and Terry were very accommodating, thoughtful, knowledgeable and kind. We truly learned a lot about where we live and how Waynesville became what it is today. Also, the Old Stage Coach Stop is a short walk from the Waynesville park. It was very easy to picnic and play at the park then walk over to our destination! A truly wonderful experience that we will definitely be doing again next year! - Mrs. H
Friendly guide and quality museum if you are visiting the Ozarks. Just off the east side of the main block of downtown Waynesville. Covers one of the oldest settled counties west of the Mississippi and on the Trail of Tears.
Nice spot to visit; there are a number of volunteers who work very hard to bring the history of the area to life. I am glad that we stopped in.
