The National Park Service has done an outstanding job with the Cicil War Interpretative Center in Corinth, MS. If you have any interest in this battle, start with a visit to this Center. It has several films and slide shows that provide a context for the battles in the vicinity of Corinth - Shiloh, the Siege of Corinth and the Battle of Corinth. There is a lovely small museum and a very knowledgeable and helpful staff. You'll need a hour or so here. Then you can decide where to drive and what to see on a nice driving tour of Corinth. The Battle of Corinth is one of the few in the Civil War that included in-town, house-to-house fighting.

My family and love history. Going to Corinth was an extension to our civil war history trips. It was very nice. The movie about the events rhat happened there was very well done and informative. I recommend this to anyone that loves to learn more about the Civil War.

The thought that was put into the creation of this center is simply overwheiming. Plan to spend at least two hours. From the moment you step out of your car you are met with the horror and the impact of this terrible war. The walkway leading to the center is"littered" with bronze replicas of what the soldiers left behind in battle--guns, knives, hats, buttons, letters home....it's all there. Inside, the center focuses on the battles of Shiloh and Corinth. There are three movies and numerous interactive displays to help you understand the important role Corinth played in the war. Ask the guide to explain the significance of the design of the outside waterfall. It certainly speaks to problems 150 years ago as well as to issues we still face today. This is a very impressive place!

We had an excellent visit to the Civil War Interpretive Center. It is well done. The movies and displays takes you through the battles and effects of the war on the soldiers and the people of Corinth. We walked out of the center very emotional. The water sculpture at the center was also impressive. As we were getting into our car on leaving, a train was passing with its horn blasting which was eerie because the battle was fought for the railroads going through Corinth

We toured all the sites in that part of the country looking for information on a specific Union Infantry Company from Wisconsin. Here, at this outstanding library are kept records of each unit and descriptions of the battles in which they fought. We were allowed to sit in the enclosed glass library and read the passages that pertained to our ancestor, which the very helpful Ranger found for us. Outstanding museum and personnel. Dorothy H

This National Park Service site is a treasure. The entry is peppered with bronze bed rolls and a stunning relief of soldiers marching. The building contains artifacts and well presented film presentations placing the site in the broader context of the Civil War. What really set this site apart for us was the water feature court yard where the war and iconic documents are represented in symbolic stone boxes and engraved monoliths with reflecting water. There is then a break in the wall with a gate that allows you to gaze up the hill to an incredible tree with a line of headstones along the ridge. Very haunting but lovely. It would be an excellent side trip after a visit to Shilo National Park.

This is a small center but very information and well done. Very beautiful. Interesting art piece from the moment you leave your car that sets the tone for the rest of your tour inside the building. Bronze pieces embedded in and along the sidewalk as you approach the building are very well done. Be sure to check out the movie.

A very educational and informative center. Brings the civil war history of the crossroads to all who visit. Reproduction gear and actual period uniform on display. Interactive exhibits and wonderful film explaining events of the era. A great portion of history revealed and excellent bronze sculptures, fortification explained. Great stop to make before you visit Shiloh National Military Park.

We were in the area to visit the Shiloh Battlefield and really didn't know anything about Corinth. We wound up in the town because we found a good B&B (The Generals' Quarters) and then learned more about Corinth. The Interpretive Center is excellent - very good film, well organized exhibits and helpful staff. Corinth played an important role and it was good to lean more.

This site is part of the National Park Service's Shiloh Military Park. It should be given it own separate, stand-along status. The staff is very welcoming and is eager to assist you in learning about Corinth and the role it played in the Western Civil War. This was the second visit in seven years. The first time we came to Corinth, just to sleep then planned on heading to Shiloh, but, the hotel desk clerk told us about the Center. We spent three hours here learning just a little. This time we came back to focus on Corinth railroads and how the battle was fought over them. The NPS really knows their stuff. The weekend we were there, it was the 152th Anniversary of the Battle, they had lots of tours around the different battle sites. The displays in the Center lay out a great feel for what happened.A Must-See before going to Shiloh.

One of the best museums. Beautifully organized. A zig zag path leads you up to the museum from the parking lot. What is so fascinating about this pathway are all the embedded replica articles and other Civil War replica artifacts lying in the grass along side. There are 3 video rooms and several rooms with pickup phones which further describe the information presented. Outside is a most beautiful water feature. It consists of blocks of granite engraved with the different CW battles and the years they were fought. In back of the museum are a number of grave sites and memorials on land where part of the Battle of Corinth was fought. The Shiloh Battlefield is about 25 miles from here.

Cute little place. I was hoping their was more to the battle field around town but there wasn't. On the other hand this was a great place to learn about the battle. They had a great video explaining it. The place was nicely laid out and very enjoyable to view.

Starting with the sidewalk going to the museum, I could see that someone put a lot of care and thought into the museum. Periodically embedded in the sidewalk and long alongside it were small sculptures: A pocket knife, soldiers cup, part of a rifle, a belt buckle. This is indicative of the care and the detail that went into this museum. There were three films and many exhibits that talked not only about the battle of Cornith for the railroad crossroads, but also about the contraband (newly freed slaves) camp that was in here. Very interesting presented.

We stopped here during the start of a 30 day road trip as friend told us they had the cleanest bathrooms in Corinth. We got a whole lot more than what we expected, as while the museum lived up the clean restrooms statement, it offered considerably more in information about the Civil War the events leading to it, and events happening after it. It is laid out extremely well and brings new insight into the events of the time. What started out being a bathroom break, ended up being an enjoyable educational experience. While it's just a bit off the beaten path, I highly recommend a stop there if you have any interest in one of our country's major historic events. Just follow the brown signs.
