We were expecting an antebellum period tour with a heavy emphasis on the gardens. Instead the period of the home was closer to that of the 1930s and 1940s. I can't say anything horrible about the experience, but it wasn't what we were expecting. Our host was extremely kind and very knowledgeable, but he rambled about his family history more than talk about the workings of the plantation. The gardens are cute, but not as vast as they appear in pictures. Would recommend, but be ready to do a lot of listening.
Follow directions from Joy to the plantation and noy your GPS. Have Bryan tell you of his family history as he dhows you about the house and gardens. His trophys from hunting occupy the small cabin rented out to B&B guest. A real treat off he beaten path
We had a very nice tour of this beautiful home. The tour guide and owner of the plantation was very nice and informative. There is beautiful antique furniture and an abundance of information on the property, family and area. Our family of 7 had a very nice time and felt the afternoon was well spent. The gentleman was very patient with my child, answering every question that he had. We did the tour only, did not stay in the cabin, but nevertheless, we had a wonderful afternoon there.
We felt the tour was over priced, the gardens unkept (maybe due to health and over work) but the herb garden was nice, the ruins garden a novelity, the cabin was not somewhere i would want to spent the night. The host did ramble - altho' at times interesting......... Would not recommend....... I have toured many places, including Natchez.........Aug. 2012
