Saw a band do a concert in the lobby of the venue. It was freezing cold and we didn't have to wait outside which was nice. We paid the ten dollars for the premier parking and we did get out right away and didn't have to walk far. The acoustics were off for the show and some of the fans were out of control but we thought it was a great place to see a show and would go back!
Save your money and go to the Bushnell, Shubert or Bijou theaters. Saw Jersey Boys Sat. 2-7 at 2pm. The show would have been great had I been able to hear each actor and had I not missed the 1st 25 minutes of the play (along with hundreds of others) due to the poor traffic/parking process. It took 50 minutes from the time we got off the ramp until we got into our seats.I won't be back.Maureen from Stratford
A shabby theater that is in desperate need of renovation. Not sure who was responsible for the stage lighting but it was pretty bad. Speaking of the stage, it was so bare and cheesey looking! And what's with the tiny video screens? And the parking situation is a rip off. We arrived close to show time because of bad weather and traffic. Saw a lot with empty spaces not too far from the entrance. It was. "first in first out" lot for whic we paid $25 for a spot! Highway ( or parking lot) robbery. Also food choices severely limited Hot dogs, nachos, cheese& crackers, pretzels. No candy or anything sweet. All I can say is good thing the show was fantastic ( the Piano Guys) and I will say the seats are comfortable.
This is a fairly large "small venue".....that is to say, a great place for a concert. Saw Jackson Browne here, and the size of the venue makes for a "big" show, without all the impersonality of an arena or stadium. Lots of refreshment stands in the huge lobby, good acoustics, comfier than most bigger venues. Recommended.
Too bad that they couldnt keep the" In the round" stage-the new place has some vision issues and cannot see your fav artists as well as the old round stage
The show was great and we had a really good time. Jackson Browne said he was a leaf blowing around on the stage that night. He didnt have a set list and played songs that we shouted out. His interaction with the audience was like hanging out with an old friend or a family reunion. The songs where from the heart and touched your soul.Accoustics were clear in our section, 100. Good sightlines to the stage but seats were very close so you better love your neighbor. There was a bathroom break half way through the show and the bathrooms and beverage stations had long lines running into the restart of the show. People getting back to their seats blocked the view of those already seated . Parking on the free parking lot is a free for all when leaving. Very dangerous to people getting back to there cars and cars trying to get out.
Saw Crosby, Stills & Nash last night, 7-16-14 at Oakdale - our first time at this venue. The concert was great and the venue was fine, all great seats, acoustics were good, ushers did their job fine. The place was clean and the seats comfortable. Beer was a little expensive, but what do you expect? We read about the parking, so arrived a little early to get a close-in but free parking - just drive by the guys trying to get you to pay for "premium parking". We did leave the show at the encore and were able to easily walk to the car and drive out without any problem at all. Not sure what all the negativity is about. I'm looking forward to coming back.
Saw the Young the Giant Concert at the Toyota Center, the concert was great and lasted almost two hours.
Went to a great show this past weekend but had to put up with the typical nonsense parking they have. On the way in you can pay $25 for priority parking at the first group of parking lot attendants then you get another group who have a $20 priority parking. ( both claiming you get out faster after show) or you can park for free. We had paid the $20 once before and you end up sitting in a traffic jam anyway. Cars are going every which way to try to get out and the attendants after the show just sit back out of the way and watch. Nobody directs traffic at all! Also once you get to an 8PM show they open the doors at 7:30PM so you have to stand around outside and wait. Once you get in you are offered $4 bottle water, $8 pretzels and the like. Ridiculousness ! Lots of over priced junk food...you'd be better off eating at a good restaurant before you get to this money pit. Also not the cleanest place....theater had funny smells like baby diaper. Maybe someone had a Hershey squirt in my son in laws seat. Would never go to this theater again...
One of the best concerts ever. The all starrs were unbelievable and I wish they were still around, because I would go again.
Was at the Oakdale last night to see Ringo, show was great! Venue sucks! There was a a horrible smell in section 204 smelled liked beer/wine had been spilled and never cleaned up. Parking was a nightmare. At other shows we have spent the money and paid for the "vip" parking only to get stuck in traffic anyhow, only difference we paid to sit in traffic!. After all the years they have been in business they should have the parking situation under control without having to charge "extra for vip" . Seems like they nickel and dime the patron to death. Bathrooms were not very good either! I can't think of any reason to ever go there again.
Great venue. Comfortable seating with leg room. Plenty of beverages available if you are into that. Food too though we ate elsewhere. Clean ladies rooms and enough of them. Good acoustics and views from most seats. A nice surprise was how well outgoing traffic was handled after the show. Ringo and friends were great. Our fourth time seeing him and it doesn't get old. I would definitely recommend both the show and the venue.
Liked - no bad seats that I saw. The sound/acoustics were decent for a small venue. Disliked - will-call only for tickets. One senior citizen checking wristbands for the pit at a Lana Del Rey concert full of teenagers. The only time she actually checked was if someone showed her. The pit ended up way overfull and out of control. Last, and most disappointing, this was the first time I'd been to this venue and both parking attendants that stopped me made me feel as if I had to pay $15 to park. Neither gave me the option of the free parking up the road. The artist was great but the experience was soured by poor service.
Easy location with ample free parking and nice atrium. Broad spectrum of theatrical events mostly musical. It's a shame the sound is so lousy. Musical theater gets lost on the stage. Amplified rock is horrendous especially if you sit (or without seats in the GA area) in the orchestra area. If an artist you love is playing no where else go otherwise pick a different venue.
The show on March 7 was very good, the theater is small enough that it appeared that all the seats were good. Wish I could say the same about the outside. When we arrived was asked if I wanted the premium parking for an extra $20, we were an hour early so I said no thanks, the attendent said he would have done the same. We were then directed to the admission price parking area, think I was still in the same zip code . When we walked to the theater were told that doors would not open till 45 minutes before the show. What they did not say was that would only be to the loby, if you wanted to get to your seat it would not happen till 15 minutes before the scheduled start of the show.Guess they wanted to make sure you were properly exposed to the overpriced concession stands. After a very enjoyable show we let the crowd go out and started to walk to our car, what nobody told us was that the premium parking areas are allowed to exit first while the other parking areas get to wait,so add the better part of an hour to get out of the parking lot.
