I first went to iFloat in March of 2013. I had heard about sensory deprivation tanks from many people, but did not have a suitable place to go in my city. I made an appointment with David at iFloat, roped in a friend, and drove three hours to Westport. I am glad that I did because it changed my life. For the first time, I experienced the meaning of the word Serenity. Up until that point, I was accustomed to life where worry, anxiety, distraction, and resistance ruled. During my float, I was for the first time alone with my thoughts, and my mind went into standby mode. I saw myself. I saw the universe. I realized that there was another way to live.iFloat was the best place for my float, and they exceeded my expectations. Their iPad tutorial was informative, and the facilities were clean and luxurious. David is not just a spa attendant, but is a human being who deeply understands the power of mindfulness. I have recommended iFloat to dozens of people, not only because of my great float, but because floating helps us become more of ourselves in a world that seeks conformity.
IFloat is such a unique place/space. It is a clean comfortable place open to the community. There are four large float rooms private each with their own shower and changing area. The staff is professional and courteous. You have a private room where I showered and then let myself into the tank space and relaxed for 90 min, accessing slower brainwaves. David, the owner, also has classes and teaches about how the brain works and how floating is a tool to alleviate stress and find solutions.
I always believe that you should try anything once just as long as it won't hurt others. So I decided to try floating and have been hooked for over a year. At first it's a little uncomfortable because being in one of the float chambers by yourself makes you do something we don't always do - confront ourselves. Through floating I have been able to think deeply about the things I need, want, or have to do to make myself happy. The journey to these decisions have not been easy but oh so rewarding in the end. Any additional plus is that I am always calmer and more relaxed at the end of a float. So now I float at least once a month and would recommend it to all.
It's a sensory deprivation tank, but that makes it sound too oppressive. The experience is actually liberating and relaxing. Try it at least twice in order to get past the initial surprise and doubts. The staff is gentle and knowledgeable. Their enthusiasm for the method is infectious.
I wasn't sure what to expect the first time I floated. I thought there was no way I would be able to lie still for an hour. It's amazing how transformative the experience is, and where your thought will take you. Afterwards, I truly felt a much needed slowing down, and both times I've floated, I got the best night's sleep. Ifloat is a wonderful way to treat yourself. Different than a massage, but similar in that its restorative time you give yourself. Plus, the place is immaculate. It's a different experience and one well worth trying.
The first impression iFloat makes is the comfort and beauty of its stunning facilities. I felt like I was in a high-end spa. The staff was courteous, kind, and friendly. Once in the floatation room, I was able to relax so deeply as to access hidden and higher levels of consciousness. I got some messages from those levels that were very spiritual and universal, and some that I very personally needed to tap into. All in all, my floats (I did two, and can see how the more you do, the more you get out of it) were definitely worth the trips from Boston. iFloat also has a cool artist's program. My recommendation is, if you are thinking about it, do it!
I have spend the last 7 weeks traveling with many deadlines and a lot of stress. My schedule has kept me from sleeping my normal 8 hours a night. Ifloat was recommended by a friend here in Westport, CT and I immediately booked an appointment. The owner/partner showed me a short video and led me back to my private room with shower. He helped me find shampoo that worked with my hair (one that wouldn't strip the color) and showed me how to work the lights. The shower and room was immaculate. I felt very comfortable. The water felt neither cold nor hot. The tub seemed only 1.5 to 2 feet deep but was 7 feet long and 6 feet wide. I could stretch out fully without touching the sides or top, but could easily sit up. They give you ear plugs to help keep you from getting swimmers ear and alcohol drops for after you get out of the tub. I felt so relaxed afterwards and know that I'll sleep like a baby tonight. I highly recommend it. (They also have a Kangen water system for tea afterwards and they use it for sterile chemical free cleaning and a hydroponic planter for herbs and vegetables that they sell.)
I just returned home from iFloat and I feel fantastic. I had a recent death in the family and have been grieving with a pain in my heart and could not open my energy center. I am a yoga teacher and have been practicing every day with many heart opening postures to no avail. I feel so peaceful now and am grateful I live close enough to Wesport to make it today. It was worth every moment. The rooms are wonderful and the staff is top notch. I will be taking a friend back with me. What a perfect gift to give.
I love the whole experience at Ifloat . My best friend introduced me to floating, and I am so happy that my first experience was with Ifloat. Floating is definitely a stress reliever but the Ifloat experience made it unforgettable. I love the client-centric culture at Ifloat – everything is just awesome. From the time you walk in, their warm greetings makes you feel that you are just at the RIGHT place… the complimentary tea, the brief overview for first time floaters, the cleanliness, the one-on-one attention, their professionalism – my trip from NYC to Westport is ALWAYS worth it. It's definitely one of the places you must experience in Westport, CT.
my ifloat experience was oh so very nice from beginning till end. It was easy to schedule, easy to find (i came from out of town), easy to park. The ifloat folks are calm and kind and the facility is very clean and gorgeous. I left there feeling free of all my body discomforts and as if i had just had a three day vacation. It found it really nice to go with a friend to share the after glow.I felt more calm and open, and in my stride for days afterwards
I had never floated before and decided to try it. It was a fascinating experience, unlike anything I've ever done. I felt completely relaxed and, after a while, I felt that I was able to think more clearly and deeply, without all the noise of everyday life. The facility is beautiful and calming and the staff are professional and welcoming.
