Lots of info to be had in this railroad station turned visitors center, we decided to visit the Skyline Caverns after visiting the center
The staff here very friendly and willing to help. Lots of info on the area. Made us feel welcome to the town where we spent a few days.
The information was accurate. The office was very clean. I was impressed with the knowledge base of the attendant.
Gave excellent directions and suggestions about things to see. Maps of the town. Very knowledgeable about the museums and history.
Located in an adorable train station building in downtown "old" Front Royal, the Visitor's Center offers more than materials on the local area. So if you are on your way to various points north, south, east and west, you can find brochures and helpful info on places probably in a 250 mile radius! Wish they had promoted more of the local history (like a video on the Civil War battle) but I'm a history buff and wanted to learn more about the unusually named town. We did take the walking tour of the old main street. There is a hidden charm to the town....but it needs some TLC. Staff were extremely helpful, cold drinks can be purchased as well as t-shirts and magnets, and clean restrooms. Great location!
We were in town for a brief stop and just checked in to see what might be in the local vicinity. The staff at the center were exceptionally helpful in sorting out places to visit and made a great recommendation on a nearby place to eat. Very friendly.
We were driving from DC to Charlottesville and decided to take a break at Front Royal, heading for the historic downtown area. So our logical first stop was the Visitor Center. We were greeted by Don, one of the volunteer staff there, who couldn't have been more helpful. He gave us all the information we could possibly want, not just about the town itself but also about Virginia more widely. He was really friendly and made us feel right at home. From what we could see and hear while we were talking to him his colleagues were just as good with other visitors. We got the firm impression that the Visitor Center staff are proud of their town - rightly so - and want to ensure that visitors are properly welcomed. Front Royal itself is a nice American small town with many interesting buildings from the Civil War area so it's well worth a visit. But make sure you call in at the Visitor Center first: that will ensure you're helped to make the most of your visit.
Our first stop in Front Royal was the Visitor’s Center. They used the old train station in the middle of town on Main Street for their center. It was full of things to do and information on area attractions. The people there were so friendly and helpful. Make it your first stop too!
Staff was friendly and helpful, actually stated they were happy to have us there. We were given maps and brochures to help us plan our trip through Skyline Drive.
This visitor's center is right downtown in Front Royal--you probably will want to stop here if you're interested in looking around the city. I suspect the visitor's center is highly rated, since there isn't a choice on tripadvisor for the downtown area of Front Royal. I picked up an interesting brochure describing a walking tour of the historic houses of Front Royal and wandered around town for an hour looking at some of the early houses, looking into shops, and reading about the history of this community. Some of the buildings date to the late 1700's. Stopped here after coming off Skyline Drive and before heading south through the Shenandoah valley.
Open Sunday, with restrooms. Extremely well stocked with travel brochures from near and far in Virginia. Congenially staffed.
Nice 'senior' staff with good sense of humor (it IS early in the season, I guess). Gave us maps and lots of information.
Just your average visitor center. You can easily get the information you are looking for and check out the old train.
I picked up two locally-published guidebooks on area trails and hikes. Visitor centers are perfect for that kind of knowledge and the two gentlemen working the day I visited shared a few good stories as well.
good staff, helpful and nice. Lot's of info on the area. will check it out again. Many maps and brochures along with discounts and set in an Old Train depot.
