Delightful park! Good parking, available restrooms, abundant picnic facilities and benches. Trails for kids. Well maintained trails. Wonderful dock to sit and relax while taking in the beauty of the lake. Very relaxing and tranquil preserve. Kayak rentals. A hidden gem in the city!

Although the day was cloudy and sometimes drizzling rain, it did not diminish the beauty of Hoffler Creek. There are several short, easy trails and a loop trail around Lake Ballard. Some of the wildlife living in the area include deer, rabbits, otter, waterfowl, and others. They have a kayak launch and kayak rentals for paddling Hoffler Creek, a Visitor Center, Pavillion, and offer various nature programs. The park is located next to suburban residential areas, heavy industry, and Hampton Roads shipping lanes but none of it detracts from a peaceful visit to Hoffler Creek.
