Virginia is such a historical state, it's hard to go anywhere without bumping into some artifact or museum. we've lived in Manassas for 15 years and it took 13 to go visit the museum because it was just hiding in plain sight. It's a great tribute to the battles fought in the Manassas area. A little small but with so much history in the surrounding area it was a nice educational stop and very well done. We enjoyed our visit.

My little grandson and I recently paid a visit to the Manassas Museum. From the outside it looks very big with a beautiful piece of land surrounding it with a small but fun playground and a large parking lot. Once inside you are greeted by 2 very nice and enthusiastic people who orient you to the Museum. The cost is $5 a person, with the child being free. It is deceiving on the inside because the Museum is actually only 2 rooms. But the exhibits are very well placed, informative and relevant to the history of the area. We were done pretty quickly but spent a good hour in the gift shop! It was very well done and set up, with lovely gifts both for adults and children. We didnt get to enjoy the grounds as it was snowing that day. It is a good visit for history buffs, along with so many other great things to see in Manassas. The town boasts a lovely area of shops, great restaurants (Foster's is our favorite right at the train station) and a historical train station. A nice place to spend a day.

If you want to learn anything about local Manassas history this is the place to go. There is a knowledgeable, friendly staff who are always ready and willing to answer your questions.

The museum is a wonderful step back in time with a lot of information to look at, and helpful staff. It is not very large so you will not spend a long time here, but it is a great start before walking throughout Old Town. Plus, there is a lot of event information as well.

lots of Civil War info, small only two rooms. Think of the $5.00 entrance fee as helping to build a bigger museum.

While the museum is small, the staff was informative, and the facility was well kept. The display made the visit worth the visit. They do have rotting exhibits, we just missed one of pictures done by a soldier during the Civil War. Small but adequate gift shop.

I love going to the Manassas Museum. They have many special events especially for children and families. I like to go to the book talks and signings. I love the interpretaive history demos on the museum lawn. The displays change regularly and there are many great gifts and local resources on sale in the gift shop. A must see for everyone visitng Manassas and local as well.

This is a very small museum. Although interesting it is way too small to charge admission even though i know its necessary to keep it up. The volunteer staff there is exceptionally nice and the museum and grounds are well kept.

Interesting exhibits and artifacts in a very small museum. There is a 7 minute video that was very informative. They place is clean and well displayed and well kept. But I honestly think we were through it in 1/2 an hour. There is also a small expensive gift shop.

This is a small museum. It has some interesting artifacts but not very interactive. We came with kids and we were ready to leave after about 15 minutes of viewing the exhibits. They enjoyed the gift shop, which had some interesting books and items, and we wound up spending as much time in the gift shop as the museum.

This is a wonderful museum to take in one afternoon. It is a treasure trove of info on the civil war and the Battles of Manassas 1 &2.

This is a small museum which tells the story of Masassas VA. Laid out well with interesting exhibits. We learned quite a bit. The staff members were very helpful - suggesting several restaurants nearby for lunch. The gift shop had some unusual gifts as well. We were glad we spent an hour there.

Manassas is a quiet community with a quaint downtown area and a well placed, very informative Museum that holds some some very interesting installations of historical Civil War era Virginia. It's a must see for any War buffs and a great addition to a day trip to Manassas.

We are new to the area and visited the museum to learn more about the area and its civil war history. It is small but the items they have are in amazing condition. It is very clean and well displayed. There are also many site tours that you can do in the area(plantation, forts, and old school) but the dates and times vary so check with the museum. You will need to purchase a tour ticket at the museum and then drive to the tour sight. The ladies that were staffing the place are their real gems. They were so nice and welcoming. My daughter is 13 and enjoyed it. I don't think a child much younger would. On a side note the Manassas Visitor's Center is across the street in the train depot. We did both in 2 hours. It is also by the historic downtown area where you could stop for a bite of lunch or dinner.
