A 17th century home that was bought in England, then brought over and reconstructed here, impressive.

Wow, where do I start? This place is so unique and situated in one of Richmond's finest neighbourhoods, it's one of the most beautiful houses I've ever been in - but it also has a history! Our guide was so knowledgeable and passionate about medieval history, it was wonderful. He was engaging and was able to give me and my dad tons of information about the home, its history, and life in medieval England. We stayed after their closing time but they were nice enough to let us explore the gardens before we departed.I would definitely recommend Agecroft to any history buff visiting Richmond!

The home was dismantled and transported to the US from England and reassembled in Richmond above the James River. It is an interesting mid evil home and also home to the Richmond Shakespeare Theatre in the Summer.

are amazing. The guides are friendly and informative. A very pleasant hour or so. If you are a history buff this is the place for you.

I didn't like the tour at all. The house is very dark and gloomy. I will never go there again. Waste of my time and energy.

Agecroft Hall was built near Manchester in the 15th century and then moved to Richmond in the 1920s. It became a museum later and has been lovingly restored and decorated since. The house tour is excellent. The staff is very knowledgable and clearly very proud of the Hall. The gardens surrounding the house are equally impressive. The house sits upon a hill overlooking the James River.

A beautiful 15th century estate that was moved from England to Richmond, Virginia in the 1920's by T. C. Williams. Beautiful view of the James River from the grounds and fine "period" entertainment as we waited in line for a brief entertaining tour through 4 rooms of the estate. Will return for a guided tour at another time.

we wanted to see the house for a regular tour but inadvertently came on the open house weekend with mobs of people and costumed events. I think all the kids enjoyed it but definitely the wrong time to try to see the house. Lovely setting. Very dark inside.

My wife had a wonderful time at today's event. The wait was made enjoyable with the music and entertainment. It was nice touch to have interpreters during the tour. The library set in WWII was very touching. Great for kids.

Jim S., Thank you for visiting and for taking the time to review Agecroft Hall. All feedback is helpful. Positive and negative comments about tours and tour guides are utilized as training tools for the entire Tour Services department and sometimes shared with other staff.Your tour guide may have mentioned that some areas of the building are not open to the public. Due to the nature of Agecroft Hall being a private home until 1969, there are closets and visible staircases leading to rooms that are not part of the guided tour. Like all museums, there are spaces reserved for staff offices, storage of educational materials, storage for our collection, etc. Further, for other potential visitors, we do not allow photography/videography while on tour.Best wishes and happy travels,Manager of Tour Services

Enjoyed a lovely stroll through history with my husband who is a Renaissance history buff. The Tudor style homes were sent from dismantled homes from in England and rebuilt in Richmond.

Another grand house in Richmond with a very interesting history. Very well maintained and we have heard the Christmas decorations are fantastic. This is a house that was originally built in England centuries ago (15th century) - dismantled and shipped to the US in the early 1900 to save it from being torn down - than rebuilt here restoring it to its original elegance.
