red river railroad museum

Any kid would love the train stimulator...well, I'm an adult and I enjoyed it too! This is a must stop for a unique musuem showcasing an important part of American history. The artifacts are fascinating, even if you never thought much about railroads, and you learn so much while actually enjoying learning. Great place to visit and it will be worth the trip!

nice little museum, but honestly I'm not that excited about trains. The rest of the party really enjoyed it, though.

Visited a few weekends ago, throughly enjoyed the displays filled with railroad artifacts and the cabooses and engine outside the museum. Had to pry the kids out of the train simulator and watched a couple of very interesting DVDs on railroads. The Katy Depot is just a few blocks from downtown, we had lunch at a very good resturant connected to the depot called Smitty's that was in the former Railway Express Building. Just down the block was a neat 1900s hotel called the Travelers Inn and the Eisenhower Birth Place is a few blocks south. Lots of train activity just down from the museum while we were there.
