We go to Jim Hogg park often, mostly to launch the bass boat and fish, but once in awhile to fish off the dock there. It's a nice place with good access to Lake Georgetown. Wish we could catch more fish though!

Wife and I just bought a Teardrop Trailer for camping and took it to Jim Hogg Park for our maiden voyage. Campground was clean though some sites needed the grass to be cut back. Bathrooms were clean and well maintained...one was out of commission as they were replacing the septic tank. Each site had a covered picnic table area with a large table that easily sat 4 to a side. Some sites had plenty of tress/shade while others were more minimal. Sites were back in and paved. Seemed like it was mostly RV type camping and less tent camping. Sites had hook ups for water and power. Campground also has a dump station by the exit. No playground, basketball courts or anything like that. It did have a boat ramp since it is right on the lake. Lake levels were low (as of Oct. '14) .We have a video of our trip and the campground including some drone footage on youtube here: http://youtu.be/I9ISBJGzlUk

This is our go to spot for our annual church camping. Its always availabe this time of year and near enough to Austin for non-campers to go back home and come back for the day festivities :) The guy who works there at the entrance booth is super nice! This place gets dark quick and closes its doors at 10pm so make sure you go the right way! The only complaint is that there's no water in the restrooms near our campsite :/ Other than that we loved the cool breeze this time of year bc of the Lake. The view is pretty enough and lots of room to pitch a tent. Another thing we found this year is that it got packed quick! We wished for a more secluded spot bc of our large crowd but oh well-lots of campers and RVs-not all too nice or polite w/our crowd. But hey the location can't be beat, they are so nice here, its convenient and pretty, and cheap entrance fee per car..and the kids always have fun so probably will go back next year :p

Great camping here. Lake levels are really low right now. No swimming area for kids, we had to drive to another park for the swimming area. If you are going for the view & relaxation, this is a good place to visit.

We made a reservation online and saw a map to pick out a site but no where was it mentioned that there were street lamps every 5th or 6th site. We were tent camping. No fun to be lit up all night. We went back to the main gate and requested a different spot. The staff was very understanding and patient as I stayed at the desk and my husband drove around and we communicated via cell phone for a new site. Warning, many sites are hilly and not good for tents. However most sites are really large and have a few options for tent placement. Sites are spaced out well too. I also liked that the different areas were gated with key codes to enter.I wouldn't recommend showering here though! Not the cleanest I've seen. We were here for 2 nights but did not use any recreational facilities. Cannot comment on that

I love Corp of Engineer parks, but this one is really nice! Lake side has huge lots, but some are not level (side to side or there's an incline). Beautiful place and great views. I also love that the sites are so cheap and tents can be set up with an RV on the same site. I wish they allowed golf carts, because this place is huge. I won't reveal the best sites, because then I won't be able to book them! :) To get the best sites book 6 months in advance, cancellation is easy if you have to. When exiting, you have to dump your black tank and even if you don't want to, you are forced to wait in the line for it. There is only one road out and on a busy/holiday weekend, this line could be an hour or more. Prepare for this by avoiding the Sunday checkout or last day of a long holiday weekend. Or just get up and leave really early! Overall we really enjoyed our time here and already booked for two more trips this year.
